US Manchester flights with Philly touchdown

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had any experience with the US Airways flight from Manchester that is the same flight number all the way through to Orlando but stops in Philladelphia? Think it's flight US735 out and US734 back.

I'm assuming you clear customs etc at Philly or do you just wait in a transit lounge and then clear immigration at MCO. You have 2 hours so should be fine either way.

Then on the way back, do you just get off the plane and reboard? They are only allowing about an hour.

Any feedback on how this works would be useful.

you will go through immigration,when you land in philly.you will then collect your bags,but then drop them off again,at the bag drop.these two points,are usually close together,so you won't have to take them far.
you will then go through security,before your next flight.
you may have to change terminals or go to a different concourse,but it will be well signposted.i would be happy,with a 2 hour timeframe.
on the way back,your luggage,will be checked all the way through,so you won't see it again,until you land.

Sorry I may not have explained properly. I have changed planes before in states, so i'm aware of the general procedures. It's just this flight is the same flight number all the way through but does make a stop in Philly, which they class as a plane change

My sister had the same thing last year same flight number for both still ended up being a change of plane they stayed in the same terminal but had a different gate to go to that was from dublin so can't say for sure if its the same from manchester

It is the same flight number right enough but thats just for US Air purposes. In this case it's 2 different types of aircraft your actually on , an Airbus 333 to Philly then onto an Airbus 321 for the onward flight.

I believe you actually have a change of terminal to do in this instance as well from Terminal A to Terminal B.

Continental do this as well on thier Edinburgh to Orlando flight , always confuses.

Just done this route in october. Same flight numbers.

Landed in Philly, cleared immigration, collected cases, cleared customs, dropped cases back again, cleared security and had to go length of terminal to next plane.

We booked with a 2 hr connection. In july they changed it to 1hr 50. 1st plane was late so we ran but they did hold the second flight as there were 90 of us from manchester.

On the way back MCO flight was delayed, they moved heaven and earth to take off as soon as the flight landed. They said they would hold the Manchester flight in Philly. We got off at Philly and they directed us to the stand literally next to us and onto the next plane and we took off striaghtaway - took 9hrs from mco to manchester.

Would fly with them again.

We did similar in Feb, same transatlantic flight(735/734) but we changed to a Tampa flight in Philly, we have done the MCO route with same flight number before, as said above its no different to any other change of plane, its a different plane down to MCO even though its the same flight number.

I have done this a few times now, really is as easy as the other guys say!

We had about two hours between flight landing and taking off, but I wouldnt worry too much about being short of time, it really is a breeze.

The good thing for you is when you get to Orlando you dont have all the immigration lines because you will have already done that at Philli!

Agree - big perk of an indirect flight.

There was no immigration line in Philadelphia.

At MCO you arrive as a domestic flight (so all that line up for immigration, collect bags - clear customs, drop off bags, get shuttle, pick up bags again is avoided)

Just got on the shuttle and got the bags then straight to car rental garage.

DH commented how much easier it was. We landed 7.20pm and were in the hotel room (about 20 mins drive away) 8.30pm.
