US Airways Upgrades

I have enough points for first class upgrades, but not enough for tix to HI. This wouldn't be my first choice of flights, but if they really will apply the upgrade that is fine. Is the "Capacity Control" going to prevent me from actually using the points, or if you have the points, will they generally let you upgrade once you pay for a coach ticket?

It is capacity controlled. It's been awhile since I used miles to upgrade at US but in the past the upgrade seats came out of the same bucket as the 25,000 mile first class seats. So if you look at their website, if there are 25,000 mile first class tickets available (one way), you should be able to use miles to upgrade. Be sure to enter the number of people you want to upgrade. They may only have 1 seat available for upgrade.

To be honest, I've found US's first class service lacking compared to other airlines.
