Being that it is suppose to be cold this weekend in disney, we may have to change the location of our DP to the backup location. Has anyone had their DP at the American Adventure Parlor? Where do you view Illuminations from? Is it inside or is it a patio? If you have pictures of this venue, can you post them please? Thanks!

The American Adventure Parlor is very beautiful. It was supposed to be our backup location. Think early american colonial style furnishings.

I will give you a small warning. Because your viewing location is UK you may not wind up in the AAP. We were put in the world showcase pavillion and it is a big blue ugly convention type space. I would talk to your planner and let her know that if you have to be moved that it must be the designated back up space of AAP.

Good luck and here's some pixie dust for warmer weather. :wizard:

Thanks for the pixie dust. I already confirmed with my planner that AAD is my backup location. DO you know where you watch the fireworks from? Is it a good viewing spot? I hope someone else on here will be able to post pics or have had their DP there.

Here is a link originally provided by lurkyloo with some Roots photos of the location:

What will happen is you will have your desert party at the AAP which is indoors and about 15 minutes or so before the start of Illuminations your guest will be escorted to your viewing location at UK.

It is a really good walk from the American Adventure to the UK. We were also guaranteed the AAP as our backup and didn't get it. You would not believe but 6 years later I am still not happy about what happened at our dessert party. Imagine my suprise when we should have been in that beautiful room and wound up in the ugliest room you could imagine with no warning. I was not asked if it was okay nor informed of the change prior to arriving at the location. For our party it was drizzling so everyone was offered ponchos.

OMG! that is really horrible. i am sorry that happened. trust me if that happens all HELL will break loose since me and my fiancess are LOUD NY'ers. Those pictures are of UK lochside though. I want to see what the inside of the american parlor. so basically they walk you to UK for Illuminations and there is no viewing in AAP?

We had UK Lochside for our location and we were told similar things. My request for a backup location was the AAP, and we were told that we would eat inside and then be escorted to the UK for the fireworks.

My WP told us that Epcot is the big decision maker for all-things-Illuminations-DPs, so even though we could discuss whatever we wanted with her, Epcot was still at liberty to change backup locations at will based upon their needs. She also told us that we wouldn't find out their final decision until the morning of our wedding. I guess Epcot needs to be able to make last minute changes based on conventions etc. We had a morning ceremony, and I found out before the ceremony that we got our backup location of choice (which we thankfully didn't need).

I was told that the only way to guarantee a backup location was to book it securely as a second location. Which means paying the site fee as well as meeting those F&B minimums on top of your original DP location!

so basically they walk you to UK for Illuminations and there is no viewing in AAP?

Not that I know of, but maybe your planner could clarify this.

Here is a shot inside the AAR. This was originally our reception location before we outgrew it.

I have more pictures of the inside at home if you want to see more :goodvibes

This is a picture looking out the window, but I had a friend who ended up here as her rain location and all that was held indoors was the food because the American Gardens Theater across from AAR blocks parts of the lagoon. Her guests were given ponchos to go outside to watch Illuminations itself in a roped off area near the lagoon.
