Hi Guys,
I have just received a phone call from my Grandad-his Sister has slipped into a coma(she has been having treatment for cancer+unfortunatley it has gone to the brain). He needs a flight ASAP to Knock-Ireland from Gatwick. He has no clue on how to do this-has no Internet.I also have no idea on where to start to help him get a flight over the net.PLEASE can someone point me in the right direction on what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!(he only went last month-but it was all arranged for him from his family in Ireland-so we have no idea what to do+i have NEVER booked a flight before).Thank you so much.x.x.

INFO:- 2 adults, going from Gatwick to Knock.(he flew with EXCEL last month)
is there such a thing as an open ticket-as we don't know how long he could be there for(the hospital has given her 2-3 days at the most)>Or do they get a one way ticket+then book the flight home over there.I am lost,i could really do with trying to look or book something for them tonight.x.x.

hope you get it sorted Michelle

Thnaks Nat-i have just had a look,is that a one way ticket/open ticket-sorry i can't see that info.x.

Ithink it was one -way !! im sorry im about as clueless as you i suspect :confused3 i hope you manage to sort something out hun x x

Sorry to hear that Michelle.

I had a look at xl.com and they have flights leaving tomorrow at 5pm for £159 one way....you can book a return for approx £70-80 depending on your return date.

It is very straight forward to book a flight online you just enter the details on screen, name, address, credit card etc and normally they send a confirmation email which acts as your ticket...you print it out and take it to the check in desk with you.

I'll carry on looking to see if I can find anything else. Keep us updated if you book anything.

I don't have a credit card only a debit card?????????

Thanks everyone so far,i have been looking at the link you also gave me Rachel, anymore links would be grateful---some of the companys won't let me book over the net as it's within 3 days, some won't let me do one way-i am so confused.

Karen i will return your pm as soon as i can.Thank you.x.

Michelle i have tried to get in contact with wayne as he is good at finding flights etc.
sending you and your family

I am sure most will take a debit card....the cheapest i have found is the xl.com one. They are open until 9pm if you want to call and book over the phone, tel 0871 911 4220.

Karen i will return your pm as soon as i can.Thank you.x.

Michelle, Prioritise and dont worry. sending

This is just a thought and Im probably heading in the wrong direction but is it worth contacting the airlines direct by phone?

 sorry to hear that Michelle hope everything is ok and you manage to get a flight sorted out!

Thanks so much everyone for your help+all your best wishes,it is really appreciated.Rachel thank you so much for all those links you pm'ed me.

UPDATE--Grandad has spoken to one of his brothers in Ireland. He recommends Grandad flying from Heathrow to Dublin,Dublin to Sligo. As his sister has been moved:confused3 .I am back to square one-can you all help me again,i have gone back to the websites everyone recommended-and tried to put in Heathrow to Sligo but it won't let me.I can only get as far as Heathrow to Dublin+then it does'nt offer me a connecting flight from Dublin to Sligo.
Aer Arann plane was mentioned-going with BMI???????????????

Thanks again everyone you're help is still much appreciated,i can see me being up for a long time yet.x.

I found some flights available tomorrow from heathrow to dublin and then dublin to slingo but they are £650 each!!! justtheflight.com

aerlingus.com have approx 12 flights tomorrow from heathrow to dublin returning in a week for around £200 per person.

I will have a look for the 2nd flight now.

Just found flights from Dublin to sligo for tomorrow, return is £90 per person.
You would have to book the later flight 5pm as you wouldn't get into dublin by 7am to catch the morning one.
