Ugh! One of the items I ordered from Amazon got sent to my old address in Utah (currrently, I'm in Connecticut). You know how the Amazon account always remembers your addresses? Well, I'd wondered how to delete my old addresses, but never had figured it out. I must've accidentally hit the wrong address for shipping destination.

So, I emailed Amazon and called UPS. I haven't heard back from Amazon, but UPS told me that "if" I call them when the package has arrived in Utah but before it has been sent out for delivery that they "might" be able to reroute it for me. It seems that with all of the computerization, they ought to be able to put a "tag" in the computer system that would alert them when the package arrives at Salt Lake that it needs to be rerouted.

Also, the new home owners must not be listed because I can't get a "reverse address" search to turn up their name(s) and phone number to give them a heads up to refuse delivery.

Any suggestions?

This happened to me recently. The package was returned by UPS to Amazon. It never even was delivered, the UPS guy must have known we aren't there anymore. I'm sure that the new owners didn't jsut send it back, as they've been taking in other mail accidently delivered to us there and my DH goes over every couple weeks to get it from them.

It's been mutually beneficial, because he's been able to help them figure out little things like how to reverse the ceiling fans by using the button labeled reverse on the remote control--the new owners aren't exactly handy. :rotfl:

I know what you mean. The new owners of our old house called last fall after the first big snow storm in a panic, saying that the plumber needed to know where the water turnoff for the sprinklers was immediately! We figured that they never drained the sprinkler system and busted a water pipe! :rotfl:

Unfortunately, since we sold the house through a company relocation plan, I don't even have a peice of paper with the new owners names. :confused3

If the package doesn't get returned to Amazon or rerouted, I may be out $50, which fortunately wouldn't be a financial catastrophe, but I'm thinking I shouldn't mention it to my DH because his blood pressure would go through the roof. Would any of you keep this kind of information from your spouse?

I have always thought that there were things my husband was far better off, not knowing about.

I hope it works out so you don't have anything to keep from him, of course.

By any chance do you have the phone number of an old neighbor you could call? They might be able to help in contacting the new owners.

Yes, I still have several friends in the area who I'm sure would be happy to pick up the package and send it on to me. If I can't get it rerouted and it gets delivered, that's what I may do.
