Ups and Downs of planning a WDW trip for SOOO LONGGGG!

ooo ooo I'll join this list. i started planning and planning and planning for our November trip in April. I then got in that slump of "i don't wanna do this anymore cuz i know everything" that's where i am right now, but i'm sure that will change soon...i'm getting too excited now

Oh Yeah, I KNOW what you mean! :thumbsup2 we've been planning this trip since it became available in December of last year. we've done everything you can imagine to cover all the basis like all our ADR's, Tickets to special events, what parks to go to when, how long to stay there, what our favorite rides are and then what we need to pack, how often I will have to do laundry etc. :thumbsup2 To tell you the truth, I've never gotten tired of it! :woohoo: Every day I seem to come up with something new! we still have 5 weeks 'till we go but I'm ready to pack NOW! :woohoo: the only thing we are worried about is the flight and what we will be able to bring on the plaine with us. :confused3 We'll worry about that when we come to it! You have a wonderful trip and keep up the good work! :thumbsup2 Helen

OK is it just me, or is WDW planning some sort of disease. It comes on full force all consuming, then goes into remission, then it comes back full force with PANIC!

I've planned this trip since January. JANUARY. That seems so long ago. I know every menu by heart, i know what i want to eat. I know where i want to stay, i know to bring baggies in my suitcase and shoe deviders for the bathroom door. I know about poncho's, i know where to sit for which fireworks. I know which parks to visit on what days and which to avoid. I know to take airborne before getting on the plane, i know which backpacks are ergonomically designed. The list is endless.

After i learn all of this (about 3 months ago) i stopped "learning" I just let it be. After all i was burned out and done right?

Now i'm a month out and OMG IM FREAKING OUT!!!! I feel like other than having my adr's i know nada. Its like writers block or something.

i've already gotten on a rollercoaster and i'm not even at the World yet!!!

Okay right there with you, I just thought I was crazy so either we are both crazy or this happens to all of us. I started a little later then you, because we decided that we would go to WDW back in April, for Oct. but I did everything you have. and I now have a month to go and man I have been freaking out! not even sleeping. I lay in the dark thinking about what I need to get done and when I do get up for the life of me I dont' remember :rotfl: . I need to take an note book to bed with me.

Good luck I have no advice but I know where you are coming from. :thumbsup2

man I only have 13 days left and I still dont know what all to pack just due to the regulations changing for carry ons but what I cant take ill just put in my other suit case

I'm over a year away, and haven't really started planning yet.

But I really wish we were going sooner! It's going to be hard to wait for September 07 to roll around :confused3

I hear you we are not going until Dec 07 for the kid’s birthdays and I wish we could go sooner. I started planning this trip in early July. And all of my trips start with a spreadsheet. I just copy over and rename it delete or add new things. My DH thinks I'm crazy but we have never forgotten anything behind.

I have read this a lot, but personally I am not ironing on vacation. Sorry people, I will be the wrinkled one walking around the parks.

Silly! Thats why i said bring the Downy wrinkle releaser!! LOL! No way am i ironing!

But...when i go to nice restaurants (ie: calif grill etc) i dont want my skorts and tshirts all rumpled :)

Seriously that fabric releaser is a god send, i use it on my scrubs every day before work!!! LOVE IT and smells great :)

Let me tell ya. I have been planning our May 2007 trip since July 2004 when I planned our "no kids" 2005 trip. I told mark it would be a good chance "to check out the world so we would be ready when we brought the kids" :teeth: Uh-huh. I have got passporters and folders. Lists of things to bring, places to eat, what to take to certain parks. How many pairs of shorts and jeans and shirts and socks and shoes for each of us. What to pack in the carry-ons, Just in case our checked luggage(God forbid) gets lost. I have alternate ADRs ready in case we cant get what we want, alternate times in case we can get the restaurant, but not at the time we want. I have my transportation booked. I have the hotel and dining package, as well as my travel insurance all set to go. I have a pile of STUFF just waiting for this trip. No one is allowed to use any of it until then. I could go on and on and on, but you have probably stopped reading by now anyway :rotfl2: Sweetie, you are not alone. Relax and enjoy the ride. It will all work out in the end.

BTW, thanks for the shoe divider tip and the downy wrinkle release thing. :thumbsup2 Gotta add that to my "List of items to bring"
Good luck!

Ha! I still have 5 months, 4 days left to go. I have spreadsheets, folders, shopping lists checked off, menus printed, ADR's made...

I have nothing left to obsess about... SO I THOUGHT!

I started making shirts. :rotfl2:

lol. :rotfl: I did that last time. This time, I have a few left from last time (April), had this trip (Sept) in mind. And I'm only adding a few more. lol.

The problem for me is, the more time I have to plan, the more stuff I buy!
Right now I NEED some stroller connectors and I'm trying to decide if I really need those cool pop-up rain covers from Target.com. lol.
This Sept trip was TWO YEARS in the making. lol.

we just got back thursday from 7 nts.at asmusic. i booked it about a week and 1/2 or 2 weeks before. we had the time off so just my dh and myself went. went down by amtrak, i do not like to fly. we had a great time. we really relaxed ,just did what we wanted . it was fun. we have a 4 month old grandson and we tell him all the time how when hes bigger nanna and grampy are taking him to see mickey...........hahah , cant wait for that........

I am will you all here!!!! I first found the disboards in Jan 06 and the addiction began. Planning for my April trip consumed me a on daily basis. We have been to Disney as lot as kids but only once at that point as adults. After we came back in April, actually on the plane, DH agreed to return in December for our first Christmas Disney experience. I figured I did not have to do much more planning since I already had all “the knowledge” I needed. BUT WAIT….there is sooooo much more going on in December.. .I am so excited. I finally think I have everything ready as far and plans and itinerates. When I booked MVMCP last week they were at half capacity for the total available and it was still only August!!!! I don’t know how I am going to get through the next 88days 2 hours and 9 minutes!!!! :rotfl2:

I know what you mean.. I freak out days before I leave... But what helps me is that since I am an ORGANIZED freak... I make a list on my comp. of what to take and everyday if I remember something I type it.. So try to relax I know the feeling

This is exactly where I am right now. I have my ADR's made and got some plans from touringplans.com. I read everything I could for months till I couldnt find anything I didn't know.

Now I'm 26 days away and freaking! I have to confirm flights, still don't have my documents from disney, wavering on which parks to do what day, no idea what to pack, still trying to pick out a pair of comfy shoes (2 pairs so far didn't work out and got returned), worried about travel documents, planning for the wedding on top of all that.

AUUUUUGH

I'm a bit busy don't ya know?

You are very well planned out and your family willthank youfor it. My hubby called me obsessed then thanked me for being so planned

I totally agree with you there! :thumbsup2

I think my fiancee thinks I'm crazy about planning so far ahead of time, but I want to make sure we can do everything we want to do.

He also told me he won't get excited about going to WDW until a week before! And he doesn't get at all why I'm excited now :guilty:

We have 20 days to go and I want to start packing but the kids still need theri clothes so I am stuck. I feel your pain.

We made a countdown chain that has helpped my kids. My daughter 6 cut out 20 strips of construction papaer each day they rid one chain off. It is a good visual of how long left. I wouldn't do it over 30 days out.

We have been planning this trip forever. 20 months. I got to thinking that the idea originally began when my daughter was 13 months old. She's 2 1/2 now. Wow. Anyway, I have spent so many hours on these boards that I was sure I was completely prepared for anything- maybe even over-prepared. Now we're at the 23 day mark and I'm starting to get a little panicky. I keep checking the boards to make sure I didn't miss some tidbit of information that would make or break our trip. I keep reading and re-reading my packing list, adding things, taking things off. I have lists of things I need to buy, lists of things I need to do and now I'm worried I won't get everything done in time. My DH thinks I'm insane but I'm thinking we had so long now we're down to days (okay weeks- but I like days better) and why didn't I do all this before. I know everything will work out fine but right now I'm a little bit of a wreck.

Nice to know I am in good company! My family tells me I should become a Disney travel agent! I have been planning current trip ( Jan 07) since Feb! I can't wrap my head around people that try this last minute!

At work everyone comes to me when planning a trip and we are only going on our second trip in Jan. But I did a lot of planning for last years trip and everyone knew it! :rotfl2:

We still have 4 mon. to go until the next trip and I have all the adrs (cancelled and remade 3x), an itinerary, and packing list done. What else is there to do? I know - spend time on the DIS everyday so you can continue to change adrs based on reviews!!

My family thinks I am crazy!
