Upgrading Unused Park Hoppers to DVC Premium Annual Passes?

I currently have unused Park Hopper tickets with 2 park days and 2 water park days still left on them. These tickets were purchased many years ago, when there was no expiration.

I've read that you can "trade up" and get value for unused tickets, when purchasing annual passes.

Does this apply to the type of tickets that I have, and would they be able to be used to buy the DVC Member Premium Annual Pass?

Thanks in advance.

Luke

When did you purchase the tickets? Are they “Magic Your Way” tickets? If they’re older than that, then they’re only valid as they are. You say they’re “unused” but have entries “still left on them;” the word “still” causes me pause because that seems to contradict “unused.” Are they really unused, or are they left over tickets with the no-expiration option?

Unused “Magic Your Way” tickets will be worth their latest gate price towards any other ticket or annual pass, but determining how much that is gets complicated since those tickets aren’t actually sold anymore. Look on the main Theme Park forum for the ticket upgrade sticky post for more details.

I'd estimate that we purchased them in the 2008-2010 period. They were 10 day park-hoppers plus 5 additional days at the water parks. We have 2 park days left on each ticket, and 2 water park days left. If you are scratching your head wondering why we have days left, it's because we've been going so frequently over the past several years that we've always bought annual passes.

Thanks.

You are long past 14 days from first use, they cannot be upgraded.

Nope, I was scratching my head because you said they were unused; maybe you mistyped and meant “used.” These cannot be upgraded because they have been used more than 14 days ago.

You might want to post your question on the “All About Tickets & Upgrades” sticky thread on the Theme Parks board. Expert advice over there!

This may not be correct. We also had similar tickets from that period of time: 10 day Park Hoppers with the Water Park add-ons and they did not expire. And that includes using them within 14 days of the start.

We used them over a period of several years. 4 days (out of the 10) the first trip. 2 days (out of the 10) the second trip a year later. 2 more days another two years later.

We have now used up all of the 10 Park Hopper days, but we still have 10 Water Park visits left on those tickets and can use them any time one by one.

They did not have the "must be used within 14 days of first use" clause back then when you bought the non-expiring option.

EDIT: I just realized that I may have mis-read your reply. If you just mean that they cannot be UPGRADED because that is how upgrading works, then you may indeed be correct. I thought some people were suggesting that the tickets were not even valid for anything any more -- and that was what I was referring to, sorry.

That’s what I meant, they can’t be upgraded after 14 days of first use.
