Does anyone know if you transfer your trac# to another tracfone do all the minutes transfer also? My daughter has 74 days and 773 min. on her phone but will not carry it any more as it has butt dialed 911 two times. Both times the keys were locked.
The phone is about 5 years old and we have been looking at one with the slide out keyboard but do not want to waste all the minutes if they do not transfer with the number.

We have changed phones before and kept the number and minutes. Try to do it online, but the time I called they tried to help by sending me a new SIM card...3 hours total phone time and 4 SIM cards later, I lost my number but they still gave me the minutes I had left. Their CS is a nightmare if you only speak English!!!!!!!!

Minutes, number and air time transfered when I did mine.

We transferred dd's number when she got a new phone. I forget the details because dh took care of it. It was a time consuming hassle, but it worked.

Never done it myself, but you can do it online. If you are stuck or something happens to where you need to call customer service, google for the Tracfone Miami customer service. I always hear how that number is top notch for service.

I'm stuck with our Tracfones because I am getting a new card from the bank and the old was canceled. My payment for the monthly plan was rejected today (forgot about it tying to Tracfone.) So, we are getting canceled on the monthly plan because I won't have the new card in time. Oh well, it's just my too-young-to-have-a-cellphone daughters who have Tracfones anyways. They never use them since getting iPods and texting friends and family (mostly family) through those.

I have done it three times recently. DD and I both have the slide out keyboard Samsungs.

You can do it online. Just follow the instructions to activate a new phone and choose the option to transfer the minutes and phone number from another Tracfone. My advice is if it doesn't work at first, log in to your account on Tracfone. Above the phone's information it may have a link for entering more codes if there is a problem. Also, I have found that you frequently lose some minutes when switching phones. It will ask you if you agree with the minutes/days that will transfer. I just say "yes" because if you don't then it says you have to call in. I would rather lose minutes than call in.

In addition, you may need to turn the phone off and on again when you are done.

Good luck. Switching phones can be a hassle, but otherwise it is a good bargain for me and DD.

Ok Imzadi told me to do this and it worked, call this 800# and say what she said. I did it after Christmas with my daughters new LG phone. She had 500 min and they all transferred over. It only took about 10 min. Here's a cut and paste of our conversation (Imzadi I hope you don't mind):

Re: New Tracfone ?

When you get the new phone, charge it up, and then call THIS number to call Customer Service. 1-800- 876-5753. It is the Escalations Dept, and they seem to have better English speaking reps there. (Tracfone uses overseas customer service reps. ) Call earlier in the day, that also seems to make a difference in the quality of reps. I guess they put their best workers on early.

Tell the person you are upgrading to a new phone. Make sure you use that word. And that you want to transfer your minutes and keep the old phone number. (Unless you want to get a new phone number. Your choice.)

They will walk you through the procedure of deactivating the old phone, transferring the minutes and inputting codes in to activate the new phone with the same phone number. Expect the call to take about 20-30 minutes. You might have to wait on hold for a rep. But, once you get the new phone up & running, you shouldn't have to deal with them again. So the 20 minutes is well worth going through.

Do you hane to physically do anything to the old phone? My daughter lost hers and wants a new one.

Well after my DD finally made up her mind which phone she wanted we got one today. We got the LG800G it comes with triple minutes:cheer2::cheer2:. I was worried about how hard it was going to be to get the number and minutes to carry over. Logged into our account and it was very easy to take care of.
We needed the Serial number from the old phone and the phone number then it prompted us step by step. Not even 20 minutes to do it online.
