Upgrading to season passes?

We currently have 5 day park hoppers during the free dining in November. Can I just upgrade those to season passes once our trip is over? And when does the exact year begin and end?
Will it be the exact difference between our park hoppers and our season passes?

Following. I was wondering the same thing. I think your passes will begin as soon as you upgrade, but I would like someone to confirm that!

So from what I found online you must have at least 1 days left on your ticket to upgrade it. From what I can tell if you use your whole ticket up then you will have to outright pay for an Annual pass. If you do what to upgrade then they will take the price of the ticket you already paid for and use to towards the price of the annual pass.

As for the benefits you can go here to see them all https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/passholder-benefits-and-discounts/ They are mostly Discounts on dining, rooms, special events, etc. It also can get you a Tables in Wonderland card for $100. This will give you 20% off your bill at most restaurants and it includes alcohol.

On a personal note I am DVC and we just had to choose weather to buy a 5 day park hopper or an Annual Pass. With our DVC Discount it was $100 difference between the two. We choose to go for the annual pass and now we have a few more trips planned for the year. It makes it worth it to us and it will more then pay for itself because we park hop every day.

If you are planning to go to the parks more then once in a year then I think it is worth it, if not then I would stick to what you have already.

I did this at the end of august with the same free dining plan. We had to wait for our room and needed to eat so we went to DTD for their guest relations and lunch and upgraded it prior to check in or using it with no problems at all. I'm not sure why everyone says to use the ticket once before you upgrade it, I didn't ask if that changes it to be cheaper but the price was exactly what I calculated the difference between my tickets and the cost to have AP. There is a guest relations at every park entrance (before and after you use the ticket) if that works out better for you.

Upgrade early, you do get other discounts like 10% on most merch, most of the food at DTD, etc.. Basically just walk around and when your spending money pull out everything disney gave you and ask if they take any of these things for a discount and which is the best amount. If your on a meal plan that doesnt' include all the meals you plan to have and your doing some table service out of pocket also look at tables in wonderland. We skipped tiw since we were on the meal plan and didn't need additional discounts.

One word of warning, make sure the renewal date is the day you upgrade it. Sometimes it's the day you booked/paid for your existing tickets and it's difficult to fix that on the phone instead of being at the park. In our case we were told it was that day but I've read some others with horror stories of needing to fix the date without being there.
