Upgrading to Premier passport with DVC

Hey all! My son and I currently have Platinum Plus passes to WDW. I bought these as a DVC member, so I received the $100.00 discount on each of them. We'll be going to DLR this weekend & updating to Premier APs while there.

My question is, will Disney make me pay the full difference between the DVC pass price & the price of the Premier (essentially making me pay back that $100.00)? Or will they just charge the difference between the regular price of the Platinum Pass & the Premier?

I figure I'll most likely have to pay the discount back, but it'd sure be great if I didn't have to.

Thank you!

Yes you pay back the discount. They look up exactly what you paid and that's all the credit you get towards Premier

DVC AP's aren't considered "discounted", they are a ticket category of their own so there's no bridging to regular price.

You may want to look at a separate DL annual pass. I had a couple years where I did both WDW and DL. It was better to have separate AP's because of the expiration dates, that way I could stretch both AP's over the 2 years. The Premier Pass would have expired before the DL trip in the second year. Plus I just got the Deluxe AP at DL, I didn't need the blackout dates included. I also just needed the regular AP at WDW, no plus. Money wise it was a little more but the expiration date factor is what made the choice easy.

I completely agree with this, we had the Premier APs for two years and it was nothing but issues. The WDW and DL systems don't work well together, so I spent a lot of time at ticket booths (usually the ones in DL) working out issues with our passes. Also, you can only renew them in person, which can be an issue with FP+, if you can't get to the parks before you need to book your FP+. It is so much easier for us to have them separate for renewal purposes and expiration dates alone, plus we end up saving money too as we only do the Gold AP at WDW.

I have had them and never had any issues, but I agree that unless your are going to be there about the same time it makes more sense for two APs. (I lived on the east coast and worked in California so it really was kind of a 50/50 split!)

I just did this too. I was all set to do premier but after a little research realized that the much better deal all around was two passes.

As another user said, look at purchasing them separately. We just did this in Dec. Had DVC Gold passes at WDW. To get a Premier pass we would have been essentially throwing away our discount and it didn't make sense.

Look at your options, it may be cheaper to get separate admission for DL.
