Upgrading to Enchant Key ?

Hello all. Looking for some help here.
I currently have a 3-day PH purchased (from UT) for an upcoming trip in April and we are now thinking of a stopover in LA in January on our way to Aulani. We would go to the parks twice on these layover days.
Now when pricing out the cost of buying another 2 day PH from UT, it seems it would be ever so slightly cheaper to simply buy an Enchant Key pass compared to the 3 day plus another 2 day.
So any suggestions as to what is my best course of action here? Should I just go to DLR guest relations in January with my 3 day and ask to upgrade? If so, should I enter a park first to lock in pricing? Any help would be appreciate. Thanks

Upgrading can be done directly through the app, no need to stop by guest services. This is what I did in September with the idea I’d be back about 2 more times making my upgrade ‘worth it’ by basically making my 3rd visit free. But keep in mind Enchant Key has blockout dates to consider plus securing a reservation can be more difficult with a magic key than a regular ticket. For savings that are just ‘ever so slight‘, I wouldn’t upgrade.

Unless you know for a fact you're returning to make it worth the cost and can schedule your dates out at the 3 month mark, I would not recommend the magic key.
I got it and kind of regret at this point. I wasn't able to get in at all for Nov or Dec.

One piece of potential issue-- either buy after your last day in the parks this trip, or assure there's open ressies available on your dates. January has *some* availability, but some days are already sold out for Enchant keys.
