Upgrading to AP - Has to be more $?

This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find it. Thinking of buying the $199 3-day hopper for the early entry and blacked out day. I want to then upgrade to the Southern Cal AP for $199. Is that possible or does the upgrade need to be to a higher priced pass or AP?

On your other post, I mentioned to you that for your travel date, Jan. 2nd, the special $199 ticket is NOT VALID. It is for use on or after Jan. 4th. Therefore if you want to buy the 3-day hoppers for your dates, you'd have to buy the regular ones which are $214 if you buy online in advance. That means you could not upgrade to a $199 pass because it costs less.

Thanks sonnyjane... just saw your post to my other question. I could though purchase the 3-Day 1-Park Per Day Bonus Ticket for $199. Can I use that the first day (1/2) and then on the second day upgrade it to the $199 Southern Cal AP?

I am not 100% sure. I know you can't upgrade if it's less, but I'm not sure about equal value? Does anyone else know?

No. The upgrade has to go up in value.

If it were me (and I'm going on limited info. here, so I could be wrong), I'd buy a one day hopper for your first day, which as I understand it is your only blocked day. Then, upgrade to the AP that night. You will loose your early entry, but you gain the rest of the year

You can buy an AP on a blackout day and it will be valid for entry on that day.

No. The upgrade has to go up in value.

Unless something has changed in the last year, you can do a straight across upgrade. But it can't be even $1 less. It has to be even or greater.

This......just go on your blackout day, buy the AP you want and get in that day without having to purchase a blackout pass. It does work, I've done it.
