Upgrading to Annual Pass?

We are going to WDW in November and have an 8 day package during free dining. We have 8 day park hopper tickets. I was looking at Annual Passes and have a couple questions:
1) Can we upgrade to AP's or cannot we not do this because we are doing a free dining promotion? (Would we no longer get the free dining?)
2) If we do get AP's, we no longer qualify for free dining on another trip on the AP's, is this correct?
3) Will we qualify for other promos or pin codes if we got them for future trips (like room discounts)?
4) How/where/when do we purchase the AP's?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't had an AP in a couple of years, but the last time I did, I was able to use the MYW tickets that were part of our package to upgrade. They applied the cost of the tickets to the APs. In theory, your FD is coming from the fact that you are paying rack rate for your room and is not connected to ticket price, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, if you go the AP route, you will not be able to use promotions that require a ticket purchase. However, when you factor in the cost of the ticket and the rack rate room charges, you will most likely do better with your AP purchase. You have options such as AP rates, which historically are better than promotional rates, plus you can purchase a Tables in Wonderland card to get a discount on meals.

You will qualify for AP room rates. As for purchasing them, after you have activated your tickets, you can go to any of the ticket booths at the parks and upgrade them there. I have not done this since the advent of Magic Bands, so double check on that, but that is how it used to be done.
