Upgrading to Annual Pass

DH and I are wanting to book a package for a good neighbor hotel and annual passes. I called Disney travel and they said that we would have to get a 3 day hopper and then upgrade to an annual pass once we get there. The Magic Morning we get isn't that big of a deal for us. What we want is 100% of the money we spend on our 3 day hopper to go toward our new annual passes. I am guessing if we use our 3 day hopper to get the MM would reduce the amount of money they put toward the annual pass would be less. We could just book these seperately, but we want to use the tons for Disney giftcards we have from Target and we want to book everything together (tickets, hotel, airfare and shuttle) all together. Is there anything we need to know? Thanks!

The full amount you paid for the 3-day hopper will be applied to the cost of the annual pass, even if you upgrade on day 3. The upgrade must occur before the end of the day on day 3.

They apply what you paid for the pass towards the AP, even if you use 1, 2 or 3 days. You just have to upgrade before the park closes on day 3. Using the 3 day pass first is a good strategy if there's a blockout day on your trip. If not, you could upgrade earlier in the trip to use dining and merchandise discounts.
