Upgrading to Annual Pass Questions

My apologies as I am sure this has been answered.

We are planning a trip this coming fall, and already booked a vacation package with 5 day park hoppers with the max pass upgrade. I know that we can have that cost of the ticket credited towards an AP, if we do it prior to using our last day. My question is would that cost include the upcharge I already paid for maxpass? Or only the base ticket price? Whatever AP we went with would also have the maxpass upgrade.

We have a 2nd trip scheduled in 2021, less than 12 months after the 1st. Converting to a Deluxe AP would be about a wash in price vs 2 5Day parkhoppers, but the discounts and an assumed 2021 ticket price increase could lead to a small savings. It would also open up the possibility of a random bonus trip. Choosing flexpass would be a savings. That assumes the maxpass money is also credited.

Since you pre-purchased MP, that cost will be rolled into the ticket price credited toward your AP.

You can look at the Flex Pass calendar if you know when your second trip is and see if the days need reservations. Fall times tend to be very busy, and we saw several days in October where FP reservations booked up very quickly for both parks. So if your second trip is during that time and needs more than 2 days of reservations, you need to think about the risk of doing the FP. However, Deluxe has some blockouts, so check those too before you decide which is the right one for you. Calendars for both passes are already out for one year from now.

We are pretty sure (90+%) we would go deluxe, the random blocked out fall Saturdays dont affect us as we like to make that our departure flight day. The hassle of possibly having to reserve more than 2 flex days makes flexpass a non starter. Having the wife not be stressed for a year will improve my quality of life far more than a random 400 dollars would.

Thanks for the responses. I think everything we needed to know has been covered
