If I buy tickets today from UT, then decide in Jan when we take our actual vacation will I be able to upgrade my ticket to the DVC ap and just pay the difference, or should I do that before our trip? I can't get the AP yet because we are still waiting on closing contract.

It would depend if DVC is still offering an AP deal at that time.

Isn't the price for the gold annual pass available to Florida residents and DVC members set by Disney and available to purchase when u log in with your DVC member number? I was not under the impression that it is a discount offered through DVC but a set price offered through Disney? At least that's what I thought from my research of this subject.

Ok semantics then, I will rephrase, it depends if Disney parks is still offering the DVC pass at that time.

Just an FYI. If you decide to do that, make sure you use your UT ticket first to enter ( into MK let's say ), then go to City Hall to the left & have them bridge the difference...You'll get the full discount this way. But keep in mind what that difference is, because not all CM's know how to do this transaction the right way....Some will do it, and you'll get the full amount saved & some will give you a portion, but still some savings, others nuttin..:confused3

There has been discussion on different threads that if Disney changes the way they do tickets, to the tiered pricing system, that any "old" non-tiered tickets will have to be used as is. Which means that they may not be upgradeable in any way.

Since Disney has not released the details of the new tickets yet, no-one knows for sure what will happen to the old tickets. Just speculation at this point.

I do know that I was not able to add a park-hopper option to my unused non-expiring tickets once Disney did away with that ticket type. These non-expiring tickets have to be used "as-is" and are not upgradeable.

Might be worth it to hold off until after the details are released before committing to purchase the tickets. UT usually still has some old stock of tickets that they sell for a few days after the price increase at the old price.

Thanks for that info
