We currently have a 7 day hopper, but we arrive so early I am thinking I should add a day to our ticket. How do I figure out how much more it is and should I do it now or when we get there?

Where and when and from whom did you buy your ticket?

The cost will be $10.65, including tax, per ticket, IF…

you provide us with the above info so that we can offer the correct procedure.

We are on a package through Disney....but we arrive within two weeks so it looks like if I upgrade now I have to pay a change fee. Can I add a day anytime during our vacation or does it have to be the day we arrive?

1. Can I add a day anytime during our vacation or
2. does it have to be the day we arrive?

1. Yes.
2. Nope.

You can add the day at your Resort Concierge desk or at any ticket booth or
Guest Relations at the parks, at TTC or at DTD/DS.

I would think the change fee would only come into play if you were downgrading your tickets. If you are willingly paying more than Disney doesn't usually penalize you with a change fee.

Upgrading at the parks is pretty simple. Just need to activate the tickets at a park turnstile, so if you are going to MK first day, just enter the park with your tickets and head over to Guest Relations and they will do the upgrade there. Upgrades can be done anytime up until the last day of the ticket has been used and must be done at park.

1. That will work great and the upgrade can be done at any time during the trip after that.

2. A WDW Resort package ticket can be upgraded at any time within the first 14 days following first use. Even a day or more after the last original ticket asset was used.

There is usually not a "penalty" fee charged within 45 days for ADDING things to your package,
but there IS usually a "change fee" (not much, maybe $15, or so) even to add things.

1. No, that's not necessary in this case.
2. No need to use the ticket first, in this case.
3. Sorry, but that does not apply in this case.
The ticket can be upgraded before use, and/or can be upgraded even on a day (or more) after the last ticket asset was used (within 14 days following its first use.)

These kind of details are related to where, when, and from whom the ticket was purchased.
That's why I was so specific about asking… so I could get the correct info provided for the specific kind of ticket.
I thought tickets purchased as part of a package still need to bridged. Is that no longer the case?

You can definitely do it anytime during your trip. I needed to upgrade mine last week and just waited until the third day when I saw a Guest Relations that had a short line. Some of the lines are long, and the transactions usually take a little while.

You thought correctly.
I edited my answer.

Thanks for catching that!
