Upgrading Salute tickets to AP

Has anyone upgraded their Military Salute PH ticket to an AP? Can it be done?

According to the Military Disney Tips site, you can upgrade a salute ticket to an AP. You can upgrade at a ticket booth. You'll pay the difference in price between the salute ticket and the AP. I've done it at WDW before but not at DL.

It can be done, but you lose all discount, so it really isn't worth using one of the limited tickets.

Well my MIL bought the Salute tickets for all of us for our upcoming trip. My fiancé and I are considering annual passes, so we'll at least save the cost of the Salute ticket (since we didn't buy those).
