Upgrading PHP tickets

I have read that Disney will be allowing people to "trade up" to th new tickets and give retail value for existing Park Hopper tix.

Anyone know how this is done or if it actually will be the case?

I have a 4 day PHP purchased through hotwire for our August trip. I also decided to make a quick solo trip to Florida in March for spring training baseball. BUT, if I could add a day or two to my ticket by "trading up" to the new ones, I may consider visiting Disney.

DS (8) says I'm not allowedto visit theme parks without him, so there is the ethical part of it to - hmmm, what to do, what to do.

I'm not sure that you would be able to do this without it costing you considerably more than you paid for the ticket.

It was my understanding that "upgrading" the unused pass would require that you get more days (which you would like to do) but also that it would still have to be a "hopper" and that it would still have to have no expiration.

In addition, Disney is only going to give you the "wholesale" value of your Hotwire Passes to be applied to the "gate" value of another pass. If you paid $209 to Hotwire for the ticket, the wholesale value is going to be less than that. A 5-day MYW Hopper (no expiry) is going to cost you $280.10 at the gate. That's $70 more than you paid for the pass (not the wholesale price!) to get only one more park day and lose your plus feature.

It would be cheaper to just buy a 1-day MYW pass at the gate for $63.63 and save the 4-day PHP for your August trip like you planned.

Very true and thanks for that. I thought it was the reatil price paid not the wholesale.

Hmmmmm, I also thought about the two day convention tickets but that would mean 2 days at the parks...hmmmm....
