Upgrading park hoppers to MYW ?

I have read all the threads on this subject and I still am a little unclear. Our situation: We are 8 people going for 11 days, my ds and I have AP's. We are spending a day at Universal, have 2 shopping day planned so figured we would have 7 park days. Have I confused you yet??

My parents have 2 PHP tickets from last trip 1 ticket has 4 days the other has 5 days left. My aunt and uncle and their 2 daughters have 2-5 day php and 2-7 day php. My dad, uncle and aunt have gold days planned as well that's why we weren't concerned about the lesser days on some tickets.

Would we be better off to trade in our tickets (especially the 5 day) for 7 day myw tickets. Would it be worth it to upgrade the partially used tickets? We need no plusses but would add park hopping. Would it be possible to trade in the 7 days for 10 day hoppers no expiry?

I am really confused so I hope this makes sense and someone can help us decide what to do. Our goal would be to get the most days for the money we have already spent, keeping in mind the plus options are not required.

I think that's wise, the only problem being is not knowing for sure the amount you'll get for trade in on your PHPs. What I believe they use to do was take the amount you paid for the old pass, divide it by the number of days originally on the pass, subtract that amount for each used day, and give you credit for the rest.

Right before they discontinued the PHP, you could get a 5 day for 260.00. Now a 5 day with parkhopping added (no pluses) would be 228.00 plus tax, but you've lost your pluses and "no expiration" feature (which would be another 80.00 on the MYW passes). So I don't think that trade-in would be wise.

For the 7 day PHP, just recently they were 320.00, now with park hopping and no expiration added on they would be 289.00 plus tax. A MYW 10 day would be 344.00 plus tax with park hopping and no expiration added on. You would lose your pluses but you said they weren't important.

Use the charts to figure out what the MYW passes that you will want cost, then compare them to what you have. Sorry if I have confused you even more!

Thanks for the response. It is very confusing, but I see what you arez saying. If I could get 7 days park hopping with no plusses out of those 5 days that would be ideal.

Has anyone actually done this yet?
