upgrading on the day of flight

has anyone upgraded from economy to premium economy at check-in on virgin flights?

if so, was it the same price or cheaper?

any info much appreciated.

Returning from Florida my wife and I did for £180 in 2000.

We upgraded outbound from MAN to MCO Oct 2002 at check in. We got PE bulkhead seats which are saved until the lat minute in case of special assistance passengers needing them. I just enquired as the crew were ready to sell them and was charged £312 each one way for 4 adults and got 2 free for the kids. They were brilliant seats with loads of room.
