Upgrading MYW tickets to AP...is my scenario possible

I apologize if these questions have been answered before. I did some searches and only got confused. :crazy2:Since tickets are expensive and I want to be accurate on what I do, please bear with me.

Back in March I purchased thru Disney two special DVC promo ‘d 6-day MYW hopper w/water park tickets. I would like to upgrade to a DVC rate AP certificate to be activated and used later in 2017.

  1. First of all, would this even be possible?
  2. Would the price of the upgrade be the difference between what I paid and what the current DVC AP would be?
  3. Do I do this at guest relations and/or ticket window as opposed to calling Disney? MY DH and I will be at WDW for two days in December using park tickets we bid on at a silent auction. We could take care of any upgrade at that time.
  4. Since I want the one day park tickets to be used for our short December trip and not the MYW tickets noted in My Disney Experience, I assume that I would reassign those MYW tickets to another name for the time being. Would this create a problem with upgrading to an AP certificate at the park, if I had the tickets with me?
Thank you in advance!

1. Yes, as long as the tickets are unused at the time of upgrade.

2. Yes. Those special promo tickets don't get price bridged.

3. Guest Relations, but not regular ticket windows, can sell (and/or upgrade to) DVC AP certificates (aka inactive APs).

4. This is complicated. If you have "hard tickets" (plastic RFID cards) and you linked them to yourself in MDX, those plastic RFID cards are linked to you forever, regardless of what MDX profile you transfer the actual ticket entitlements to. So, if you transfer the entitlements, the "hard tickets" you have will not actually access those entitlements anymore. Basically, transferring the entitlements you want to upgrade to any MDX profile that doesn't have RFID media (cards and/or MagicBands) attached will make actually DOING the upgrade a massive pain in the butt. If possible, just do the upgrade prior to entering a park on your one-day tickets - a certificate (inactive AP) can't be accidentally used no matter who it's linked to. Or just have the one-day tickets prioritized at a ticket window (or GR) if you don't want to do the upgrade at that time.
