upgrading group ticket to DVC annual pass renewal

Is this possible?

My annual pass expires 2 days prior to finishing a trip. I have been offered a 3 day group park hopper for $182.

At this point in time, I don't know if my next year travel plans will allow me to utilize an annual pass. I'll know better when I go on my trip.

If I purchase the $182... will that be applied to the $377 DVC renewal?

and I've read when you upgrade, if you use a day first, that it reverts to gate prices. Is that true on group tickets?
2day hopper is $230
3day hopper is $296

If I use a day, what will they credit to my DVC renewal?

Assuming it is from Disney, or a regular disney pass, yes you can.

It depends on the ticket - not sure what a "group" ticket is. You can check the ticket sticky at the top of the Theme Parks forum for more details. YES tickets, convention tickets, sporting group tickets, are not upgradeable. Usually "heavily discounted" tickets are not upgradable. Yours sounds like it might fall in that category as that is about $100 off the gate price ($238 for a 3 day MYW + 55 for hopping).

If it's an upgradeable ticket, yes use it at least once, and you will get credit for the current gate value of the ticket type you are holding (so a 3 day hopper for example) applied to your AP. You will just pay the difference between the ticket you have (now gate price) and the AP you want.
