Upgrades, Underwear and Upside Down Fun -5/7 King Louie totally ROCKS!

When we first went in 1997, the No Way Jose was so big that 7 of us couldn't finish it! The Kitchen sink was, I think, 25 scoops of ice cream:eek:

OMG- I LOVE the No Way Jose!! All the times I stayed at the BC, I NEVER had one until I started DISsing and read about it on here- just had my first one in November...I don't think I can DO a WDW trip from now on without one!! That's my favorite combo, PB & Chocolate & vanilla with whipped cream. YUM, YUM, YUM!!!:lovestruc Pods & I split one- don't think I could finish it on my own, especially after a burger. And I agree about the burgers- they're good, very tasty, but they aren't OMG best-burger-ever-burgers they've been made out to be. Cammie's probably right, they probably have cut back. :sad2:

And I have my own personal theory as to why it's a TS and not a CS- I think they do that because the restaurant is so small to discourage people from coming in.:confused3 It's already busy enough withOUT making it a "deal".

Only 2 1/2 WEEKS TO GO!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Oh, THAT'S right- you're going this weekend-:snooty: Well aren't you just sooooo special! Make sure you spend $20 at Epcot and get the $10 watch- I heard it's very nice. Hope they have some left for me in 2 1/2 WEEKS!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

What type of watch? I bought one at AK a couple of months back, I wonder if it is the same one.

:woohoo:

Laundry or trip report....decisions, decisions - right?

For all I've heard over the years about Beaches n' Cream, one would think they served Kobe beef on brioche jetted in from Paris! It just never seemed to me that the wait justified the eats - maybe it's the atmosphere of an old fashioned soda shop? And muffins? Hm...I do love the sweets but that looks like guaranteed sugar coma!

Looking forward to the grand finale!

That's my point! It was good, just not THAT good!

love it as usual. Can't wait for the next new report. BSIL, crazy friends and Bouma....

Oh, I'm just gonna go with the flow - yeah, right! That is so NOT me! :rotfl2:

Let me just say, Yummmmmm! We missed Beaches N Cream because we were too full this time for dessert. I've never done Beaches and Cream for a meal because it's TS on the Dining plan - for CS food?:confused3

Yup, it's CS food for sure. We paid OOP so no big deal.

Ok, now I want to go to Beaches N Cream. I had emailed a pic of the Kitchen Sink to my friend we are going with in July. I thought 8 of us could maybe touch it. But your Sundae's look great! Um, must show this to DH when he gets back!

Keep in mind the sundaes are easily big enough for 3 to share. I was just being stubborn..... :rolleyes1

Hey Kara - was just catching up and wanted to post this reply before continuing.

For Kim Possible Experience - you can pretty much request what country you want to do. After Lauren and I had done two, we would just go to the kiosk and request the country we wanted next. I think they just have to check and make sure there aren't already too many missions being done in the country you request - don't want to many "spies" stepping all over each other!;)

And another FYI - a cm told us that you could go to the same country and have the same mission, but different clues to search out.

That's what Jeff said - there is actually more than one mission in each country. We talked about it and all three of us are psyched to do it again this weekend!

Ok, just looked at your B&C pix. We haven't eaten there for a few years, but judging by the pic of your burger, it looks like they're really skimping. Their burgers USED to much bigger than those. (Damn economy!)

As for the best burger on Disney property? While I've never eaten there, I've seen pix on the food porn thread of burgers at The Fountain in the Dolphin that look amazing!

OK, I'm killing the burger talk now! It is NOT the be all end all of burgers. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's the same burger you can get anywhere else in any of the parks. But Jeff did say the onion rings were good.....

Yuummmmm! Note to self: Do not look at Kara's ice cream photos before lunch. I didn't realize Beaches & Cream was so teeny tiny.

I know, right? It was not just tiny, it was teeny tiny! With all the talk on the DIS about, well, those round beef patties between two pieces of bread, I'd have thought it was a major restaurant!

:thumbsup2Yum, those ice cream pics have me drooling on my keyboard again. I'm on a low carb diet so no ice cream for me:sad2:I think I'll go squirt some whipped cream in my mouth instead.

Lo carb? What is that? Never heard of it.... la la la la la la.....

Actually, I agree about the sundae. Muffins?!?! :confused3

Didn't make sense to me either.

Smart for you and Ally to share. :thumbsup2 I didn't, so there was no way I could have a No Way Jose. :sad2:

Not so smart really - we shared the burger, but then got two sundaes between us - only needed one.

When we first went in 2007, the No Way Jose was so big that 7 of us couldn't finish it! The Kitchen sink was, I think, 25 scoops of ice cream:eek:

No way..... Tammie? Doesn't have the same ring to it, huh? 25 scoops is just crazy!

What watch? Where? When?

What type of watch? I bought one at AK a couple of months back, I wonder if it is the same one.

Again, Ellen, WHAT WATCH????? I'm all about getting the add on when I spend money at Disney. Remember ladies, it's not how much you spend, it's how much you SAVE! I tell Jeff this all the time - it's my mantra. Silly man just doesn't get it!

They were talking about it on the podcast- it has steamboat willie Mickey and a new Mickey on it, and 12:00, 3:00, etc are icons like the castle, Spaceship Earth, etc. Sounds pretty good for $10- and they said you can save your receipts from different stores around EPCOT to add up to the $20 as long as they are all Disney owned stores and not franchised ones.
My old Mickey watch is shot, I need a new one!:)

I think I get a new watch every time I'm there. That, or a tote bag! Pysched to see this year's offer!

I'm back! Had a wonderful weekend at Disney complete with..... wait for it.... wait for it....

Another SUPER UPGRADE at check-in!

I'll be back to finish this TR before I begin the new one. It will be fun, too, so many neat things happened this weekend!

Off to upload pics now!

Another bad thing about just making daytrips. You don't get any Upgrades. Can't wait to hear about your trip.

I kept Beth home today. She has a fever and a really bad cough. Plus there are more at her school. I wouldn't be surprised if we are canceled tomorrow.

There are 3 schools in the Tampa area closed, but not ours so far. Jacob does have a cough, but I know it is allergies.

It's nuts! By the time they cancel school for this thing, they've already been exposed to is. What's the point?

Hopefully they won't need to close. Again, nuts.

I saw the news and was wondering if that was Ally's school!

Yup! That's us! And the funny thing is that when I was reading the local news online, I see people are keeping their kids home from OTHER schools in the county that arent' even closed. Yet they'll probably let them go the mall, the movies, etc. Drives me nuts!!!!

Weird though when the county health dept called me this morning. They are PERSONALLY calling each family!

Hey! Glad you're back. Too bad about the school closures - there were some churches closed around Oregon. How long can they keep 'em closed?:confused3

Just wanted to correct something - I said our huge No Way Jose was in 2007 - made me sound like a big fat liar - it was 1997 - can it really be 12 years ago?

OK, I've really got to wrap this up soon! We just got back from another weekend trip and I'm anxious to start that TR cause it was totally different for us!!! Well, except for the awesome UPGRADE we received at checkin! I guess I really AM the upgrade queen!!!! :worship:

So, on with the show.....

We left off after gorging ourselves on burgers and ice cream at Beaches n Cream. Honestly, I think we went back to Epcot and hit a few more attractions, but nothing noteworthy. We called it an early night to get ready for AK on Sunday.

We got up to another Chamber of Commerce day in Central Florida. Loaded our meager belongings into the car and hopped the bus to AK.

Stopped for the obligatory photo....

First up, FPs for Everest of course!

We decided to head over to Dinoland and catch Dinosaur while we were waiting for our FP time.

I don't know, I'm still not a fan of Dinoland - I think it is kinda cheesy....

AK-Dinoland1.jpg

AK-Dinoland2.jpg

Now let me give you a little background on our love/hate relationship with Dinosaur. I remember when this was Countdown to Extinction. Jeff and I rode this 2 weeks after AK opened back in 1998. We were terrified then and while some of us have matured during that time, others (Jeff.....) are still terrified of this ride. Much like me and Mission Space.

But because Ally rode it twice back in October when she and I daytripped to AK, she was not about to let him off the hook this trip. Again, much like me and Mission Space.

So I made sure that Jeff was on the left side of the vehicle to avoid the T-Rex on the right at the end.... Not that it helped.

AK-Dino1.jpg

He has tried repeatedly to get this photo deleted but I've got it triple password protected. You do see him in the back row, right? I know it's hard to see him cowering down. Come to think of it, he might be blocked by the brave 5 year old in the front row. C'mon! This is good stuff here!

Since we were making like Packer fans and wearing our cheeseheads, we decided to hang in Dinoland and catch Primeval Whirl. None of us had ever ridden this before. I now know why.

AK-PW1.jpg

AK-PW3.jpg

AK-PW6.jpg

I was soooo disappointed! With the 48" height restriction, I was really hoping for a thrill ride, but instead got banged up pretty good. Not at all what I expected. To me it's more of a cheap carnival mousetrap ride with a few little spins at the end.

But by now it was time for Everest. We love Everest. We love everthing about Everest. We like going forward, we like going backward. We love the Yeti! What's not to like???? We screamed, we lifted our arms high in the air, we conquered the yeti.

If you've never been through the standby queue, you must do it sometime. The FP queue doesn't give you as much theming, so take the time sometime and wait in the standby line, just for the theming. You'll be glad you did. Unless the line is an hour long. In August. Then I say screw the theming and get FPs!

We had another first this trip - our first time seeing this lovely lady!

AK-Devine1.jpg

AK-Devine2.jpg

AK-Devine3.jpg

We found Devine quite by accident and she was mesmorizing! Just the way she moved was incredible. It was even more fun once she moved into the landscaping off the paths, and people would walk by trying to figure out what everyone was looking at. Then you'd hear, "must be some bird or something" and they'd walk on by.

Next was time to grab a FP for KRR and hop on once it got a bit warmer out. And on to KS. We usually grab FPs for Everest and then go hit KS standby to catch the animals while its cool out and they are more active. But we're rebels today and decide to ride right before lunch. Yeah, we're a crazy bunch, huh?

On the way..... "signs signs everywhere there's signs....."

AK-Signs1.jpg

AK-Signs2.jpg

I usually take SOOOO many pics on KS, but this time, let's suffice it to say we saved Little Red.

AK-KS6.jpg

As luck would have it, as we were making our way to one of our favorite counter service joints in Disney, the Flights of Wonder show was getting ready to begin. We've never seen it so off we go!

AK-FOW999.jpg

I REALLY enjoyed this show! Yeah, it's birds. But there's a fun little story that goes along with it. The tour guide, lost in the show. Funny though, he doesn't LOOK Brazilian! :confused3

Made me proud to be an American...... especially considering the vulture was a nominee for national bird.

AK-FOW99.jpg

We all really enjoyed FOW, even Ally, who is now 8 going on 18 and is becoming quite the moody little thing! She loved when the birds flew out over the audience, but feared the same thing we all did..... bird poo! Luckily, we all left bird poo free.

By now we were ready for lunch, and I had been texting back and forth with one of my DIS buds Jillian and we had plans to meet at lunch this day. We easily found each other at Flame Tree BBQ and while our husbands rolled their eyes at our unique friendship, Jillian and I did the DIS hug and jibberjabbered for about 10 minutes.

AK-KaraJillian.jpg

Just so you know, Jillian has the CUTEST little boy - Badookie! Ally loved saying Badookie, over and over - who wouldn't!

After lunch, we had a very special appointment with King Louie and KRR. Back later!

Oh, to heck with it, I'm gonna start my new TR, too! I'll post the link once I get going, then just have one more installment for this one.....

So, tell me. Is EE *that* bad. For some reason, I am skeered to death to ride it. I easily get motion sickness. But I LOVE Dinosaur. I see no scariness in it at all. Your ride photo is soooo funny. Never let him delete it, ok? LOL! Great update!

You tell Jeff it's ok to be scared of the big, bad, scary dinosaur ride- Timmy was scared, too, last time, and he was 8! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
