i bought the dvc special ticket in December (7 for 5 expires 6 months from first use). It looks like I will be taking an unplanned trip soon. Can I upgrade that to the DVC Annual Pass... I believe Gold?

Most likely you can. See Guest Services when you get there.

Yes, just be aware that you’ll essentially get a refund of the price you paid towards the purchase of the AP.
