Should I spend the extra $32 a night ($288 total) to upgrade from the basic dining plan to the deluxe dining plan? This is a solo trip and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra $288 or if the basic would be fine.

DS and I upgraded to Deluxe last year during free dining and loved it! I would say that it would depend on where you are planning to eat. Do you like sounter service? We don't really care for it especially every day so for us it was a no-brainer. And we really do like appetizers sometimes even more than the actual meal!

a little older I plan on doing the deluxe plan. I don't want three TS meals a day, but I will do a lot signature locations.

That's a really, really subjective question. :)

If you want to eat 2-3 TS a day, including some "signature" restaurants or dinner shows, then Deluxe is a good idea. If you're more of a 1 TS plus CS kind of person, then Basic plus a little OOP is more than sufficient.

It really depends on your food tastes. If you are fast food type of person then basic should be fine. :confused3

It really depends on what you want out of your trip. If you're planning on more than one sitdown meal per day, the deluxe upgrade is probably the way to go. If you're more interested in maximizing park time, the basic plan will likely be fine.

We upgrade our trip to the DXDDP. I figure this is a great way to try out the DX plan. We have done the basic plan 3 x's now. We love it but we usually pay OOP for a few meals as well. We have several 2TS places we have to go to each trip. I would say if you enjoy eating at more TS and several 2TS place go for it. Plus w/ the discount it's a great way to try more places.

Can I book the package now with the free plan, then upgrade to the deluxe plan later? Can the TA make that change or do I have to rebook the entire trip?

I would think the TA could just make the change. I always book directly with Disney so I don't have any experience with a TA. But we booked the Deluxe Plan for our December trip and I asked if it would be ok if we ended up having to downgrade it. I was told no problem up until 45 days out because of a downgrade. I am pretty sure you can upgrade up until a few days, maybe a week before your trip.

I forgot to mention that this is an adult, solo trip.

Do you like to sit down and eat or grab and go? I would think that Free Dining is the best time of all to upgrade to deluxe because you are still saving big time with it, we're doing DxDDP and paying full price for it and it still seems like a great deal, but like a PP said it subjective

DH and I did the DDDP last year, and thought it was too much time eating. It just seemed like we were always trying to get somewhere to eat.

I guess it really depends on if you really want to experience the restaurants there or not. If your main goal is to have fun in the parks, then I say keep it at the basic DDP. But if you done the parks enough and want to try some different places, then go with the deluxe plan.

Either way, be sure to have fun!!
