Upgrade to AP at checkin and get an AP rate for 2nd half of split stay?

I know similar questions have been asked, but I haven't stumbled across this combination. We are doing a split stay in January. First half is a package booked through AAA at Pop. Second half is room only (right now with AAA rate) at AKL. We are toying with getting Annual Passes anyways, as we might be back in Fall of 08. I am wondering, if an AP rate comes out for AKL (or a comprable resort) for our dates, can we book it and then upgrade 1 or more of our package tix to APs at check-in at POP? We would then have them for check in at AKL, but wouldn't have them at the time of booking, obviously. Also, because our tix are part of a package, would we have to upgrade all the tix? (One person in our party would definately not be returning in 08, so an AP would not be worth it for her.)

Also, can my AAA TA apply an AP rate to my AKL reservation, or would I be better off calling CRO directly?

I know you can book a ressie without an ap, but when you check in you must have that ap in hand. So, if by the time you plan to be in that room you will have a valid ap in your hand, then you can book it. Hope that helps

I also know that 1 or select tickets can be upgraded at most Guest relations locations in the Parks and DTD.So that person not returning would be able to keep what ever they have and not have to upgrade if done after check-in
