Upgrade to 4-day hopper to AP or just purchase AP upfront?

DH and I have FL Res. Seasonal Passes which expire on 8/18 (during our next trip). This will be the first trip that DS needs a ticket. I'm unsure on how to proceed with his ticket.

DH and I will renew our tickets to the Silver AP and the plan is for DS to have one for next year also.

Should we:

1. Purchase DS a 4 day Florida Resident Select for our August trip and upgrade it to a Silver AP on the 4th day. Is there any price-bridging advantage when you're talking about a FL. Res. pass?

or

2. Just go ahead and purchase the AP right off the bat.

I am trying to avoid paying more than I have to and also DS having a different expiration date than DH and I (although I'm not sure if this will even be an issue in the future but it seems like it may)

1. No.
2. Sure.
