Upgrade Silver Pass to Gold

Our family of 3 has Silver Passes and would like to upgrade to Gold Passes. Our Silver Passes renew in October however we'd like to upgrade now and sneak in a summer trip.

Is this possible?
What would the cost be, a prorated fee for the couple months that we will be using the Gold Pass (July - October renewal) or a full 12 months of Gold (October 2017 - October 2018)?

You will need to take how much the gold pass is - the silver and then you have your answer there is no discount for up grading middle of the year

Well that stinks, paying 12 months for 3 months of the benefit. Oh well I guess that's what we can we expect these days...

But if you up grade you will get how many extra days in the park

There has never been "pro-rating" for upgrading APs during their life.

Seems like if they did allow this it would defeat the purpose of black out dates.

It could affect that, yes.

It also figures into buying the Platinum and Platinum Plus (Water Parks) versions of AP.

Guess I'm just used to being to upgrade other products and services at my leisure, cell phone plans, credit cards (gold to platinum), airfare...
Would like Disney would prefer to lock my into a more premium product

You can upgrade your AP but here is why you will not get a discount.

Ok lets say I have a gold AP I got it in late April next December I am blacked out for new years Eve I want to go NEY I have not had any blackout dates yet but I have had my AP for 8 months why should I get a discount but someone that paid for the platinum one from the start did not. This is why Disney does not give discounts to people that upgrade.
