Upgrade AP DVC Discount

If I purchased a Southern California Select DLR AP from the Disney Store can I use it to upgrade to the Deluxe AP and still get the DVC discount?

The pass has not been activated and is good until the end of the year.

You will get a credit of whatever you paid, to be applied to the going rate for the new pass. Whatever the current DVC discount is will be the number used to calculate the difference.
