We are looking at 7 day tickets. I notice that to buy separately either a park hopper upgrade, or water park fun and more upgrade, it costs $57 for either upgrade. Or, you can buy the parkhopper and water park fun and more (both upgrades) for $79.

My brother-in-law is able to buy all our wdw tickets at a nice discount. His discount is the best on the 7 day park hopper. My question is this: When you upgrade from a parkhopper ticket to parkhopper and water park fun and more (after using the ticket) do you just pay the difference between a park hopper ticket and a parkhopper ticket/water park fun and more combo ($22), or do you have to pay the full water park fun and more price ($57)?

Make sure that the ticket can be upgraded. Some promotional tickets can only be used for their entitlements and cannot have days or features added.

He gets the tickets at a discount via New York state employee benefit. Last time we all went (4 years ago) I was able to upgrade to an annual pass. I upgraded after using the ticket so we held onto the ticket discount. I hope these are the same type of tickets. My other thought is that Disney could get rid of the Park Hopper/Water Park $79 combo offer before we go (August 2013) and in that case would make for a pricier upgrade. Who knows what they will do with ticket prices before August. We are going with the most discounted ticket he can purchase which is the 7 day Park Hopper. Then, we'll upgrade if we want after using the ticket at least one day. If it is still only $22 to add the Water Park Fun and More we'll do that. If the price goes higher than that, well.... we'll just decide when we get there. Thanks for the special ticket warning, though....... and now I'm wondering... I think I'll be able to tell whether or not these are "special" tickets or not when they arrive. I'll post when I find out. We'll probably buy the tickets within the next couple of months or so.

I just clicked on your link and I'm looking at it right now. Thank you very much for the information. I love this forum. You guys are the best!

And I just read somewhere on one of the WDW forums (or was it an e-mail from one of the WDW information sites) that earlier than normal price increase is a possibility. I think people are predicting an earlier price change because the no expiration option (I believe) has been removes from the signs at the Disney Parks. I'm thinking if we purchase by the end of March we should be OK. Now, whether or not Disney keeps the Park Hopper/Water Park Combo deal is another story, since it looks like they are eliminating the no expiration option. It's exciting to wait and see what they do with tickets. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise, everyone!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input and help. We just put the ticket order in via my brother in law. He's getting 7 day adult park hopper tickets for $298 (including tax). I can't remember exactly, but I think the kids tickets are $285 for park hopper tickets (including tax). These tickets had the highest discount on them and for that reason we got them so that if we want to upgrade we should be able to hold on to the discount. Thanks again everyone.
