Upfront Costs?

Hi everyone,

I am excited to be planning a vacation for 2018 that would include a week at WDW and then a 7-day cruise. We won't book anything until the 2018 cruise dates come out, but it will be before March 5 to take advantage of our OBB window.

I am wondering what the upfront costs are on booking resort stays and dining packages? Is there a deposit based on the total cost like our cruise will have and then you have to pay in full by a certain date?

If you are booking a package -- resort, dining, tickets -- there is a $200 deposit. For a room-only reservation, your initial payment is equal to the first night's lodging. The PIF dates vary between the two. I think packages are 45 days?

I just booked room + tickets last night...the date it gave me for PIF is 30 days out from my arrival date.

If you buy trip insurance, you must pay that up front, in addition to the $200 deposit.

As described by the PPs, a package reservation requires a $200 deposit per room, at the time of booking. PIF date is 30 days before check in ( it used to be 45 days). BUT for a 2018 stay, you won't be able to book until the 2018 prices are released. This will happen sometime next summer.
