Updated: Online Hickory Farms Sale Now 75% Off, $10 Ship

I just peeked at the 50% off items on the Hickory Farms website, and geeze the selection sure is sparse already (most show "Out of stock for the season")

I think last year I waited until the 75% off sale, but unless they add more items there probably won't even be any 75% off this year. So I went ahead and ordered some things for DH's Superbowl snacking.

At least they're only charging the $10 shipping - not that that's cheap, but I remember in past years the shipping cost was really ridiculous

I don't care about Hickory Farms foods, but I think you're describing a trend in retail:

Seems like in the 80s and 90s stores over-ordered EVERYTHING for the Christmas season, and then they discounted stuff-stuff-stuff on December 26th. In recent years, it seems that they've all been ordering less, so fewer items are available for clearance after Christmas. And with just as many people competing for fewer items, they don't have to slash it quite so low -- it gets sold anyway.

Also, it seems that they're making Christmas stuff ridiculously high so that it's still moderately priced after Christmas. For example, $6-8 for a roll of nothing-special wrapping paper. Not metalic stuff or an extra-large roll. Just plain paper. That's crazy-high, and when you clearance it, it's not super-cheap like things used to be years ago.

Anyway, that's how it looks to me.

They are getting better and better with not having surplus I guess.

Remember about 3 or 4 years ago it was 90% off and free shipping? I got their $90 boxes for $8 shipped and got quite a few of them for friends and family.

That year was good for 80% off of Harry and David items as well after Christmas.
