UPDATED: Is there anything you can do to get someone to stop contacting you

...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe THIS is pretty much right-to-the-point...

You are wrong. My point consisted of was there PROOF of this? Simpling posting on a forum that it happened is not proof to the law. Had he responded with that statement in the body of the reply email then there would've been some proof. She said he did not.

That's why I advised documenting her requested to leave her alone.

So since the time i started this thread, I got another email that I ignored and then yesterday while most of our office was out at our convention he SHOWED UP AT OUR OFFICE. The girl who let him in doesn't know how unstable he is, The other 3 women in the office were totally freaked out and were going to call 911 but he didn't stay too long. He went in his old office and stared into space, bad mouthed our boss and he knew who the new person was (obviously scouring our website)....and HE CALLED MY HOUSE andleft a msg Tues. about how it's been going on too long, it makes no sense that we don't talk and it doesn't get any easier on him. I know our boss is having genl counsel send a letter to stay off our property, but that won'thelp me personally. I never did speak to the cops because everyone I spoke to around here said nothing could be done.
I will be speaking to a lawyer my friend knows this week.

Woah, that sounds very disturbing. I guess your company doesn't have mental health personnel? I would still call the police and tell them everything.

No, we are a very small office. I would love to let his wife know what is going on to see if she can help in some way, but no idea how to contact her.

...personally, I think that this would only make the situation WORSE...

OMG - are you kidding me?????? DON"T listen to "everyone around here" -- contact the police, tell them everything you've said here, make sure to document EVERYTHING and DO NOT have contact with this guy. I can only assume you didn't talk to your boss either........ as he came to the office and was LET IN.!!!! You need to talk to your boss, let him know what is going on and that it's HIS responsibility to protect EVERYONE at the workplace - he should've NEVER been let in. Also, HOW did he know most everyone was not in the office that day????? Is he WATCHING your office?? YOU need to take steps to not only protect yourself but your co-workers. This guy sounds like he's not stable and could at any point go off.

I almost think from your post that you don't really take this seriously as you've not contacted the police or told your boss - your IT person IS NOT your boss - I assume. There are so many women who get killed because of people like this.......... do something to protect yourself and your co-workers - from everything you've posted it's very clear he's disturbed and it's time you do something about it.

** Kimmar - Hey Sweetie......... WOW - hopefully your nut doesn't contact you anymore!!!! YIKES!!!

OHHH, just saw the part about his wife - NO NO NO - do not contact her!!! I agree, I think that would be a HUGE mistake!!!!!!!

Contact the police and let the police worry about contacting his wife.

Did you here about the shooting here in Orlando? It had been two years since the guy had workd at that office.

This is NOT your problem to solve! Call the police and let them deal with it.

OP - I've read this entire thread, just read your update, and I need to be frank with you -

ARE YOU NUTS?? ARE YOU CRAZY???

Why are you just brushing this off like its no big deal???? This guy could be let in again, or force his way in and kill you!!
Why have you let this go on for so long????

This is a really freakin' serious situation and I can't believe you haven't taken the wonderful advice people have given you on here and used it!

I'm just flabbergasted!!!

vent over.

Are you still working in the City? I can see where the police there wouldn't do anything, but a policeman in your municipality might be willing to have a word with him. Are any of your neighbors friendly with any of the police in town? If so, that would be a good person to turn to for help and advice. I wonder if you have grounds for a restraining order--a cop would know about that for sure.

Have you talked to your husband about him? What does he think?

Scary scary scary.

I bet that, especially after what just happened in Orlando, the police WOULD help out.

I don't understand why you won't go to the police? What will it hurt you to do so? A little embarrassment?

Actually, mentioning this incident to the police (as the reason you were finally motivated to contact them) might be a good idea.

Good luck! :grouphug:

I have to agree with others that particularly now, with the events of the last few days I would be contacting the police and at the very least putting this guy on their radar. I can't believe that no one in your office called 911 when he came in to the office!

He is obviously unstable and may be a danger to you. I would think that you could also charge him with Harassment if he is still contacting you, and possibly get a Protection Order.

Another thought: do your bosses know everything that has been happening between you and this nut? If not, tell them immediately. Either before or after you call the police. Since he was in a lawsuit with them they should know about these further developments with one of their employees.

Did we mention: Call the police!

Contact the police/ local FBI agency (should the PD blow you off), file a restraining order, get a concealed weapons permit and carry your gun on your person should the incident turn worse case scenario. By no means, am I trying to shock value this but with all the rampages going on in the media lately, your ex co-worker may start to get ideas to be a copy cat. This is a very serious matter and something tells me this guy is doing more stalking and harassing than you may suspect. I don't think it's a coincidence that he shows up, when everyone is out of the office but a few ladies. I seriously hope this works out for you and this guy goes away. Please be careful.

My boss knows, but the girl who let him in does not know. We are having a meeting to instruct everyone that former employees are NOT to be let in the office. My boss just keeps saying "I don't think he's dangerous" and I say "I'm sure people said that about just about every person who then became a serial killer or person who walked into their old office and started shooting." I will consult my police dept and see if they have any advice.
