UPDATED 12/07:If you are doing the WDW Marathon or Half in 2007, sign in here...

My name is Maija and I'm running my first half marathon. I will stay off site at Comfort Inn Universal Studios.

My name is Vic and I'm running the 1/2 marathon.

The DW and I are staying at POR, 1/4 - 1/8.

I've run off and on since retiring from active duty in 1998. When I turned 50 in July I decided to get back to a regular regimen, and figured I needed a goal. So I signed up for the 1/2. My long runs are at 8 miles on Sundays and 3 to 4 miles on Tues and Thurs. My training goal is to get my long runs to 12 before starting the taper.

Good luck to everone. :)

I'm running the half marathon and I'll be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge with my boyfriend. :) Looking forward to the event, and to hitting the hot tub after the event!!

Welcome, and good luck on your 1/2. You'll love AKL...its my favorite at WDW. Too much money for this trip, otherwise I would be there also.

You might want to reconsider the hot tub after a long run like a 1/2 marathon. Ice helps speed recovery, and heat is actually worse for your legs. Of course, you know your recovery and running habits better than I do. It is entirely up to you. Again, good luck on the 1/2.

Judy - please change us to All Star Sports. There was no AP rate for Pop Century, and AKL would send me over budget on this trip. Thanks!

Paul

Hi everyone! I just realized I have a lot of updating to do! I'll be back tomorrow to get everyone on the list. Thanks for your patience! :goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome!! You are quite smart to be warning me away from that hot tub... I actually have been known to soak in a tub of ice after long runs myself! But I can't resist the allure of a soak in the AKL hot tub, so I just might have to deal with the muscle soreness. I am living dangerously. :sunny:

flight and hotel have been booked, so here's my updated info

90) nym(Chris) Swan Half R/W 1st Half

My DDs (21,16,14) and I ran in the 5K fun run last year and had a blast. My 14 yo convinced me to try the half marathon this year, so we signed up. She is on the XC team at school, so she was deep into her training program by the beginning of October. Unfortunately, she tripped three weeks ago and fractured her ankle. Her walking cast won't come off until 12/20. Very sad. But she is excited to coach me through my training, and will be my biggest supporter during the race.

Does anyone know of a good plan for my family to watch me run? I am thinking the TTC for sure, and then back to EPCOT for the finish. Any other ideas? We won't have a car.

My name is Robb and I live in the Toronto area and this year I'm running the Full marathon. This will be my second full.

The DW and 2 DS and I are staying at POR, 1/2 - 1/10.

I've started running just over 3 years ago and have become very addicted.

You may be too fast for this, but here's what my scream team did last year. We averaged an 11:44 mpm pace.

Epcot - Start and 4-mile mark
Monorail to MK for Main Street
They could have watch from behind Poly. Will do this year
Back to finish.

JJ - SO sorry about your dd!!!

Hope all of the new people here will join us in teh walking/running club threads! It's gettin close!!

I'm going to be reprising my role as a bike mounted paramedic for both the 1/2 & full. Does that count??

BTW, if I keep true to form, at some point if you see a guy on a bike loaded down with medical supplies take a dive, don't worry, that will be me. :thumbsup2

I noticed a "TBD" by my name in the list and realized I didn't add my past running experience to my post. This will be my 5th half marathon, though I've also done 3 marathons. But this will be my first sporting event at Disney! :sunny:

May I be the first one to thank you for being out on course. God willing I will not need require your services.

Cheers

Jim - I'd like to be the second to thank you! :goodvibes :wizard: :wizard: that there are no dives this year!!! Please have someone take a pic of you & your bike on teh monorail for us this year. I'd love to see that! :teeth:

Jim -- thank you so much for being out there, looking out for us and taking care of anyone unfortunate enough to need medical assistance. I hope you will find a way to come mingle with the WISHers before or after the events. :thumbsup2
