Updated 1/16/06 - Yup! #4 ... We won something in Year of a Million Dreams

My DH was home early today and the mail person pulls up. Has two boxes in her hands sent certified that require signatures. The return label says Walt Disney World Resort. Very light boxes, but about the size of a toaster.

DH waited until I got home, and we opened them! We both won Year of a Million Dreams Hats!

So very cool. We'll be able to wear them when we go next December!

Woot!

Here's a funny aside for you: It cost Disney almost $7 to send each box, probably twice what the hats cost them!

No wonder it costs so much to stay there! If they spend that kind of money on postage, good grief!

Anybody else win anything?

No tricks, except I enter once for each of the five of us each day. I put a 3x5 index card inside a standard #10 envelope.

You put your name, address, daytime phone number and date of birth on the index card. Where you send it depends on where you live. See paragraph 2b for information on where to send it.

Actually, you can't buy the hats at all, well, except on Ebay They have to be given to you as a Dream. I'm still hoping to get a pair myself

That hat is awesome!!! Thank you for posting the picture. It puts my gold 50th hat to shame.

It would be so neat if they'd give codes for matching VMK hats like they did with the gold ones.

They don't have the YOAMD patch on them. But, the ears have tiny lights in them.

I was alright with mini-prizes being Dream Ears for free, but there is no way to actually buy them in the parks? Strange business move in my opinion...

WOOT! wtg. I saw so many of these hats around the parks on ppl of all ages while there over christmas. I assumed they were YOMD but didnt' actually see anyone get them.

How does that work A?

Mal, it's fairly simple. You are wandering around WDW, any of the parks. All of a sudden, a group of CM wearing light blue button up shirts and khaki pants taps you and maybe others on the shoulder and start giving out gifts. The best shot is to be at the gates first thing in the morning, bc that's when they seem to hand out the golden fastpasses, which are, of course, blue!. Also, if you win the night in Cindrella's castle, you need to have time to change your plans! There's also a special night at DLR in the specially decorated room in the Disneyland Hotel. I've seen pics of it on TV.

They also gift the hats we won, special lanyards and other things in park. The rules are complex, but how they decide who gets what is clearly defined.

When DH and I were there with Aeryn, ElectricLime and FlyingPegasus, we saw several of the Dream Team, not in gifting mode, though. We even had a chat with one of them outside the Haunted Mansion, where Electric wanted to trade pins with him. He said he required some song singing, which Fly did. Aeryn answered a trivia question. Then the Dream guy challenged ElectricLime to a trivia question, to which Lime replied that the Dream guy had to answer his trivia. At which point, Lime proceeded to stump him!

But, none of us got anything, except they got some pins. DH and I saw probably ten Dream Team members, but they were always solo, and carrying their trademark bags (which I want, btw!).

It's blind luck, pure and simple, to get something at the parks. But what a thrill it would be. Having said that, everyone I saw with anything special, I said something to the effect of, "Wow that must have been so exciting!" The single reply that I got to my comment was said by all, "Yeah, I guess." Most of them didn't even care, which really jerked my chain!
