Update on sponsoring annual passes

Was at the annual passport office this week, and there is a new form. Any of the old forms (pre Nov 9) that are fully completed will still be accepted, but part completed forms cannot be combined with new forms. I am not sure if you can sponsor another 3 people on the new form, if you have already sponsored one or two on the old form, or whether you just lose out if you dont have fully completed forms from either time period.

Thanks for the update - sounds like it could be a real bummer if you only have one or two people on your form.

I somehow suspect that they won't let you fill a new form, doesn't their computer know that you have already sponsored people, and won't let you sponsor more than 3?

I wonder if they will give you part of the year free if you have less than 3 on your form?

In the past it has been 1 sponsor = 1 month free, 2 sponsors = 3 months free. 3 sponsors = 1 year free. I'd presume that still applies.

AFAIK you have to wait until the new expiry date and can then renew your AP as normal.

I think from last year the 'building up' of sponsors no longer applies (ie the 1=1 month 2=4 months). You have to get all 3 to get a year free

wasn't there just an offer for the anniversary which reduced the number of sponsors required for a year extension? it was a short term offer. The linked page on the website only mentions 3 sponsors, and only through April 2008, which is a little different isn't it?

I was at the AP office as well the week of November 9th, and extended using Kevankiki as two of my sponsor contacts, and someone else as another (written on a seperate form)

I had NO issues at all - my pass expired November 11th. Nor was I told about a new form and that all three had to be on the same form

I just read the new form, and it doesn't indicate anywhere that I can see that only one form can be used. (I waited a long time for my number to be called and read the back of the 'old' form many times) I also asked again about the extension while I was renewing my own AP on behalf of 'kathleena', and was told that she could mail her her forms if she couldn't make it in person for the extension period in summer 2008.

This may be a case of different people saying different things. In summer I actually was told that if I didn't have the actual forms, and didn't have the names on one form, I couldn't renew. That was NOT the case - I was able to renew with two names on one form, and a sticky note with the third name....

This sounds like better news bavaria!

I think that what I will do is download a new form, fill it out, scan it in and send it out to 1 or 2 that request sponsors (at this point in time I am confused about my second person, I think they may have got one of the new forms stamped, DD already has her completed form)
