My mom is doing better, she was able to get up and into a recliner saturday for about 3 hours- which is much better than her attempt to stand on Friday. They are 99% sure she will be discharged to the rehab facility on Monday that is only 1/2 hour from us instead of 3.
But here's the word of caution.
My mom is on an anti-depressent. Since April, she has gotten done work, given up her car, her house- and moved in with my brother- all due to her disease..thats a lot for an independent woman to swallow!.
Anyways- when I went to the hospital on thursday night/friday morning. I brought her pills with me to show the orthapedic what they were. I handed him the bottle, he read it outloud, and handed it back to me. I assumed he had then written it down to order it. This was 230am Friday.
My mom takes her pill before bed- she did not take one Thursday night as she was in the ER at the local hopsital at "bed time".
Friday- I didnt notice anything with her as in depression...but I was exhausted as well.
Saturday morning I called at 730am before I left go make sure she didnt need me to bring her anything, and she was crying. I asked her if she had her antidepressent- she said she didnt think so, only her pain meds..
I went up there, with the name/dosage of meds written down, and spoke to her nurses. They were in great shock that she wasnt given the order for this med, as this is one that causes "great psycotic episodes" if abruptly stopped"....well- it was abruptly stopped she missed 2 doses, and was on her way to miss #3. They called in the doc, and he wrote the order, so at noon yesterday she got her pill..
She said she felt like kililng herself on Saturday morning, everything came tumbling down, she was having serious suicidal issue's. As the day progressed, myself, my D8 were there. My cousin who goes to St. Michaels College next to the hospital came for awhile. My brother and my nephew showed up for a couple hours, things got better for her.
I just called and asked how she was- she said "well I dont want to kill myself"...THANKGOD i knew that she was on that pill!!! My grandparents are making the 3 hour drive today...bless their souls to go see her...so that lifted her spirits a bit. The doc came in this morning and said looks like Monday for discharge- again- helped her mood, but I cant imagine how she must have felt missing that pill for those 2 days....
My word of caution- PLEASE know what your family is taking for medicine!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! I know when my dad was sick, he was on more than I knew...thankfully none of them were psych drugs, and didnt cause any of these issue's if he missed them, but PLEASE know what they are and when they take them, incase anything like this happens...
Thanks for keeping my mom in your prayers - its working!
