I have always LOVED being on jury duty!!! I wish I could be called more often.

This is MY FIRST time going.......not too happy about it, as I do NOT get paid for it!!

Good luck Faith!!! I hope that it isn't too bad for you :)

I thought jobs had to pay the difference between what the jury paid and what the job paid?!?!?!?!?!

and I haven't ever been called back. We get paid $12.00 plus mileage, I think. My employer pays the regular salary if you get called, they support people doing their civic duty. Not all companies do that, tho. And some don't even want you to do it. I would like to get called again, and actually have to do it. I can't imagine it would ever be boring, there is something interesting about all the things that go on during a trail that I would like to see and find out more about. Basically, I am a very nosy person! I ask too many questions!

In the county I used to live in we were paid $25.00 per day and where I worked (Publix) we were paid our regular salary also! This was back in 1997 or 1998 I think so they probably make more now.
The county I live in now has never called me (low crime) so I do not know what they pay.

I was recently called for jury duty and the juries were chosen by 11:30. It made me mad, I didn't get picked so I didn't even get lunch money plus I had to go to work that afternoon.

I went on the 10th...first # called and first juror selected. I thought that at least I'd get out fairly early....NOT!!!!!! iT WAS 6P.M. before we decided that case! The thing that bothered me was when I called the night B4, I was told to make arrangements for my kids until 4:30. I did 5:30 to be on the safe-side, and didn't get home 'till 7! I was a wreck worrying as DD was sick and DH was out of town.
BTW, I just rec'd my big paycheck 2 days ago for $16.93. 10 for the day and 6.93 for travel allowance:rolleyes:
There was one lady there who had a siezure and vomited, and they had paramedics come etc., but did they let her go ? NOPE!
I think I had a bad experience because I was VERY worried about DD and coldn't have my cell phone on during the trial/deliberation. Things will go better for you, I think the people who were not picked got to go home at 2:30...so that would be nice!

I would love to do jury duty, but there is no way I am ever picked.
My day for the last 3 calls has been looks and whispering defense attorneys - then "You are excused". After sitting for 8 hours knowing I won't be picked it drives you nuts.

The funniest one was the day I was called and ended up in a jury pool for a trial I was gonna be a witness at. When the read thelist of names and asked if we knew anyone on the list I raised my hand. I tried to be discreet and approach he bench but judge wanted to me to shout across the court who I knew from the list.
Gee your honor - myself.

Thank you, you are excused.

But at least I get paid for the day - as do all state, city & municipal employees at least in Mass

I got released at 11:30!! It was a bunch of us that got released, about 30! Turns out they did NOT have enough trials for today!  And, NO I didn't get paid the 15.00! I probably won't get paid from work either, but I will do my best!;) We had a choice of staying or going, we all picked go!;)
