Have any platinum members had luck with a platinum-perk upgrade to another DVC resort or to a 2-bedroom?

Well, we check in to SSR later this week, booked via our Platinum RCI membership, so I’ll let you know if we do (although I didn’t check the box to request an upgrade - didn’t have enough TPUs). I don’t remember reading any reports of RCI Platinum upgrades on TUG, but there might be some.

A Platinum upgrade will require a cancellation by someone else, because they only happen within 2 weeks of check-in. Since 2BRs are not deposited in either the general or Priority Access pools, a size upgrade is not going to happen. If you are hoping to move to a 1BR in something not named SSR or OKW, that's also very unlikely, because (a) they are deposited rarely-to-never (depending on resort) and (b) a knowledgable timeshare owner is even less likely to cancel one of them. It's not impossible, depending on the time of year, etc. and maybe not even Powerball unlikely, but you probably have better odds in your local pick-4 lottery.

Thanks for this explanation - I didn’t really know how RCI Platinum upgrades worked. I appreciate it!

We won the "RCI lottery" this morning & now I need to go buy a pick-4 lotto. :rotfl: There were a few 1 bedrooms available (for May-August) on RCI at AKV, BWV, OKW, & SSR. (There was also a 2 bedroom available, but not for the dates we needed.) I was able to snag a 1 bedroom at BWV & I am doing a happy dance this morning!

The last few months have been one heck of a "last hurrah" in RCI, for sure. Too bad I'm at the tail end of a two-week trip, and really can't justify coming back so soon!

I have noticed 2 bedrooms available a few times this year. Never have seen this in the past. Heading there today for a week and have it booked again in July. I had read late last year that RCI and Disney were no longer going to trade with each other so have been surprised to see this. Happy, but surprised.

They are not. But the existing traded points have to be fulfilled or expire, so this is a last hurrah.
