Kevin misses the boards and thought it nice that he has been missed also.
Excerpting a few thoughts Kevin asked me to pass on to everyone in a note he sent to me
I really regret not being able to spend time there
with all my great friends. Unfortunately, work has
been pretty much eating up all my time. As you might
remember, I was applying for a promotion in my
department. Unfortunately, I didn't get the position
and we had two new additions to our department. I
can't help but resent the fact that I didn't get the
position. I know I shouldn't be bitter, that perhaps I
didn't have the experience necessary, but I really
though I had the skills and the background necessary
to get the job done. I guess I'm mad that management
didn't have faith in me enough to give me a shot. So
I'm looking to see if I can find another position
somewhere else
..Unfortunately, a co-worker and I are covering the
planning applications and permits (from our
conversation authority- for construction of new
homes/decks/in-ground pools etc) for entire City of
Toronto... a city of about 2.5 million people. So you
can imagine the amount of work we get. Phone calls are
nuts and frankly I've had to tell people that it'll be
about a week before I can get back to some people
I finally bought my new car. I bought a 2003 Honda
Accord Coupe. I just took delivery yesterday and
quite excited driving it around town. At least it's a
reward for much of the hard work I've put in for the
last few years. PHEW!
In any case, it'll (hopefully) interest you to know I
managed to get Mariah Carey tickets to her concert in
Toronto. Got Floor seats, but unfortunately I won't
be as close as I was back in 2000 (which was 3rd row).
Oh well. I'm just happy I'm going
...My family is doing well. My mother has joined a support group at the
Canadian National Institute for the Blind to help her
cope with her macular degeneration in her left eye.
Unfortunately she is pretty much blind in her left eye
and requires assistance filling in forms, traveling
around town. But we're managing and doing well.
I'm helping my friend look for a townhouse and I hope
to be in the market for my own place in a year or so
(still need to save up after burning all that money
buying my sports car! LOL! ) Anyways, well that's the
short story over the past few months. Hope you're
doing well
Hope you're
doing well. Say hi to DIS gang for me. Really miss you and the fun I had on the boards. It just seems that
everyday I'm working overtime and by the time I get
home and make dinner. I'm just exhausted and ready to
hit the sack. Oi! Anyways, take care. I would really
really love to attend DIScon this year... I'm hoping
to take some time off this December to travel to
either Florida or Vegas this year. It's been about 3
years since my last trip
Anyways, as for the SARS situation here. It was about
6 weeks of not going out to eat/see movies and just
hang out with friends in clubs and bars. Just as
things have been getting better, we've experienced
what seems to be another possible outbreak. The
initial outbreak occurred at a hospital just 10
minutes from me. So it's been quite a concern during
that time. I wore a mask a few times just going to my
family doctor and I contemplated wearing one when I
was dealing with members of the public.
In any case, I really hope the situation gets resolved
soon.
Well gotta run. Take care of yourself.
Talk to you soon,
Kevin
