*UPDATE*Disney/BT looking for extras**(see new post)-BT in TO going back to WDW

Just finished watching BT this morning and I got so excited and my heart was racing a mile a minute and I could just picture myself there on mainstreet USA looking at Cinderella's Castle .....just thought i would share that with all you disers

:yay: :dancer: :dancer: :love2: :drinking1 :tinker: 2 more dayssssssssss

We were there!!! (I'm the guy with the beard.)

We were asked to be out front of the resort (Pop) at 6:30 a.m. to meet the VIP shuttle. The shuttle didn't show until 6:45 a.m. or so, and Cdnmickeylover and I were just about to pack it in and go back to bed when they showed up.

Quick trip to MK. Entrance via the road just past the entrance road to the MK bus terminal. Out of the van in a parking lot. Through a door, turn left, turn right and we were in the town square where the flag pole is at the entrance. Everything was set up around the flagpole (wires and panels and food and stuff).

There were the extras, and approximately 20-odd (or so) people wearing cast member IDs and maybe 10 or so people that appeared to be CITY people.

Over the two hours we were there, they interviewed the guy in charge of the fireworks, a Canadian cast member who works for Disney, Actor Simon and two ladies who planned balls, two cowboy actors, and Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. The kids were mostly dressed up and a there were a couple of really cute ones that everyone just fawned all over. :)

It was really spooky to look up Main Street USA and not see one body. Lots of pictures from both the extras side and the CITY side. A lot of standing around talking and positioning for camera taking and stuff like that; sort of like hurry up and wait.

We had ADRs at Breakfastsaurus so trying to get out of the MK to AK at opening time was like swimming upstream. Although we left immediately, they let everyone stay in the park for the day (I suppose).

Tomorrow after it's all over, we're heading straight for POTC to see the new changes; the other two times we've gone the lineup has been out of the entrance and half way down to the jungle ride. (The Jack Sparrow look-alike is astoundingly like the movie version; you have to stand and have a really close look at him. Acts and talks exactly like him also.)

All-in-all an interesting experience.

Jim.

Jim was that you this morning around 8:30 with Jennifer right before the CM came out to go over how to be a pirate?

Yes, that was me. :)

Somewhat more interesting this morning. This morning was Pirate Day. We were still picked up at 6:30 a.m., but this time we were driven right to POTC, through the back lot. When you drive up to get in to the back lot, the road funnels in to a very narrow lane with this 'reverse trap door' blocking the whole lane; there's no way anything can get in to the back lot without being approved. If you're approved, the 'trap door' sinks down to be level with the road and as soon as you pass by it pops up again.

It was cold this morning, in the range of 45 degrees F. Everyone was complaining about it and they had a special heater going that mostly everyone crowded around. We also had access to the hot tea and coffee this morning.

Jennifer interviewed: 1) a guy about recreation at Disney (I didn't hear exactly what he did), 2) First Mate on Cap'n Jack Sparrow's crew, who taught us how to be pirates. (I got a pirate certicate.) 3) the lady in charge of costume design, and 3) some of the crowd (the little old great-grandmother was so sweet. :) )

She also did the thing with me and the couple who were on their honeymoon.

After it was all over, they canvassed everyone about being backgrounders in some other film stuff they were planning. Most everbody said no but we said o.k., along with a couple of other people, and wound up riding the teacups three times in a row (the fourth time would have emptied my stomach. :) ) and once around on It's a Small World.

It's an interesting process, and everyone that is involved is super-nice (except the CM who snapped at me this morning when I asked a question) but Thursday is our next and last participation, and I'll be glad to sleep in.

Jim.

I saw you! The pirate thing looked cool.
We were going to be there at Epcot on Thurs. but are passing. Seems very early for us and don't want to tire the kids out too much!
Did they give you a park hopper or a pass for just MK?
Would you recommend going?

So far, other than two POTC flags, we've received nothing for both days. *But* we've been allowed in to MK both days without having to show our passes. The downside to that (according to a CM) is that the Fastpass machines would have rejected our passes because they didn't pass through the entrance machines; he suggested that we go to City Hall and activate them. Not an issue for us because we have annual passes, and not receiving anything is also not an issue.

As for the recommendation: We did it because we were interested in exactly how they put the thing together, and both them and us being in the park at the same time was a rare happenstance. Also, it was done before the park opened so that was o.k., but getting up at 5:00 a.m. was tiring and strangely whacked us out. :) The glances to the areas only accessable to CMs were almost as interesting. Can't say anything other than that.

Just saw Connorsmom too!!! :teeth: This is so neat to watch other DIS'ers...saw Jim the last 2 days also! :cool1:

Tracey I think you're in deep trouble when you get home if Connor watches BT! :goodvibes Also a belated Happy Birthday too! :sunny:

It's so funny as I've been up since 4:30AM this morning packing as we're heading to Buffalo for the night before leaving for our trip tomorrow morning and I'm sitting watching BT as I'm adding WDW photos of my DS and his DGF that just got back from WDW (I'm packing the album to show my Scottish family when we meet up with them this Sat. in Orlando!) :cheer2: WOW is this a DISNEY Day or what! :Pinkbounc

I'm soooo excited!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Now back to packing!

Hey how was that Apple Struddel?

The question for the day to win the baby prize pack was, what was Jen eating at Disney. I tried calling in, but the line was constantly busy!

How's the weather today? It's 0 here, and it's going to stay cool until Tues, when it hits 11. So the weather channel says!

I only saw one man who I think is usetheforceluke, who I've seen the other mornings! So please identify yourselves! All you all DIS people that are on?

Is anyone going to be on the Cruise Ship that Jen is going to be on?

Strudel: Not that bad, but then it was free. :)

The weather here is sort of warm. It's currently 80 (2:40 p.m.) and is expected to be the same tomorrow.

Well, today was our third and final appearance. We weren't invited Wednesday, which is a good thing because it's tiring getting up at 5:00 a.m. :)

We were picked up promptly at 6:30 a.m., the shuttle having already picked up Katter and DH. We then went to pick up princesstricia's dad and cousin. Her and her mother took a pass on this morning.

This morning we actually got a fair look at behind the scenes all the way to Italy... it was quite revealing.

The filming actually took place just outside of Italy on the dessert terrace. Jennifer interviewed an Imagineer of the new Nemo ride, and it was done with a bubble machine blowing bubbles all over the place. The other interviews were with The Candy Maker Lady from Japan, Bill (princesstricia's dad) and a chef from Germany when they made strudel.

The BT crew are going to go on a three day cruise today and I thought that they were all looking a bit tired.

The nice lady from Disney Canada gave everyone a Mickey Head pin with the Canadian Flag on it.

Once the show was complete, we were strongly urged to leave because the International Showcase wasn't open until 11:00 a.m., and we were all escorted out of the area.

We had a couple of good laughs this morning. We overheard 'someone' complaining to the Nice Lady from Disney Canada that we shouldn't be allowed to have access to the tea and coffee table because yesterday 'they' used up all of the milk and "Jenn" didn't have any milk for her tea. The Nice Lady from Disney Canada was a lot nicer and more polite in her response than I would have been.

Shortly after that, the same 'someone' was also complaining to The Nice Lady from Disney Canada that 'they' ate at the Garden Grill, and it cost $200 and the food was poor and the service was bad and it was too bad that "Jenn" had to put up with that kind of stuff. The Nice Lady from Disney Canada was a lot nicer and more polite in her response than I would have been.

Strangely enough, we also overheard an extra asking Jennifer where she ate supper last night, and Jennifer matter-of-factly said the Garden Grill and it was o.k. She also said that that was the only reservation that they could get on short notice and she said something to the effect that you have to be prepared to do some advance planning if you were visiting, especially with dinners and meals. A totally different response than the other 'someone'.

An interesting experience for both Fiona (cdnmickeylover) and myself. And, no, we won't do it again because it's a once-only experience.

Jim.

Hi everyone,

It was a very interesting experience and I am glad that we did it....loved coming into Epcot the back way that was problably the most exciting thing...Also being at Epcot without the crowds was kind of cool....Thought that Jennifer was so very petite and the whole crew was very nice ....I felt very comfortable being there.....I loved meeting other disers such as Jim and Fiona and Connorsmom and DH....probably wouldn't do it again but would recommend it.....

Maureen

Hi Maureen

It was great meeting you and your DH.

Agree that it was interesting but I don't think we'd do it again since it really through our days off although it was great being in the parks that early and seeing them empty!
