 Hello everyone! I'm new to these boards. I've been to Orlando 4 times and drove everytime. This is the 1st time I'm flying in and with my sister who has never been. So if anyone can tell me their experience with Interamerican I would really appreciate it. I made my reservation in March or April. For 5 days we have an economy car Kia Rio for $105.00 + tax. Does anyone know what the tax comes out to. The rental is at the airport and I heard there could be an airport tax too. When I called to ask them, they said about $140. So that will be $70 for each of us for 5 days. Please give me your comments. Thank you.

Interamerican is off the airport. They will shuttle you to the car. Orlando does charge a fee and I think it about $2 a day.

The other thing to check into is insurance. I use my Diners Club which has insurance plus my personal car insurance covers me. However, some credit cards will only insure you at the "major" (Hertz, Budget, Alamo etc..) rental companies. If you are using your credit card insurance verifiy that you are covered.

 I called the Orlando location, and the woman who answered was very rude! To make a long story short, I called 2 times before about my reservation and when I called to confirm everything the woman just about yelled at me and said I see you called 2 times before, why are you calling again?? Do you still not understand your rates?? Before I could even say anything. So I said I was looking to see that they had all of the correct info for me since I changed the res. by an hour and I didn't receive a conf. email like I asked for and was told I'd get one. So she rabbled on and then said Are all of your questions answered so you don't have to call back again. I said, I'm sorry, is it an inconvenience to you that I am calling about my reservation? And she said YES, you are calling the rental location.

What does that mean? The rudness was unbearable so I called the 1800 # and told them about it.

Anyways, I do have car rental insurance with my credit card and I will call again to make sure that this car rental agency is covered just the same.

Can anyone else tell me anything about Interamerican? Greatly appreciated.

We used Interamerican last year. The only thing I wasn't happy about is they really tried to sell us on an upgrade and the lady wasn't too happy we wouldn't! She also was outright rude!

What did they say when you called to complain about the rude person???

Personally, I would cancel this ressie over the rude person. I would then let the company (not the rude person) know why you cancelled your ressie. I would rather pay more money than put up w/customer service like that!!! I don't care if you called one hundred times!!! There is no excuse for what you were put through!!! What are they going to say when you get there???

I would try to rent w/one of the on airport sites. Check out mousesavers.com for discount codes for the various rental agencies. Perhaps you can do even better than the rates you currently have anyway :)

Best of luck to you :)

The only thing they said at the 1800# is Oh, I'm so sorry about that, which location did you say this happened at, ok well do you want to go over your reservation with me? Nothing more. I was disappointed. I was thinking about canceling but the base rate is $105 and with taxes about $140 they said. We are really on a tight budget, both me and my sister have kids and we are trying to save for a house and car. Anyways, I went on Dollar and they have an economy car for 120.99 with taxes 154. Not to bad and I did use a code from mousesavers. I don't know what do you think? Could I possibly get an economy car for less. I am tempted to cancel with Interamerican, normally I would but money is tight. Thank you so much KathyR for your input and for the mousesavers link. I probably will cancel Interamerican. I would like to hear everyone's opinion. Thanks again!!!!:D

:p I went to Dollar website, put in all these different codes and finally I found one that made the base rate $99 and total est. is $128. I am so happy. Thank you KathyR. I'm not sure though if I want to cancel Interamerican, they could be backup in case I need it. I'll think about that. Thanks again!!!

I am glad they appologised, but I would still cancel the ressie! Dollar is a much more reputable car rental agency. I would go w/them! Plus, you will save about 30 minutes worth of hassle getting shuttled to the other place and then back again when you return for your trip home!!! Congratulations on you ressie!!! Not only did you save $$$... you got an onsite rental which is so much easier!!! :bounce: :bounce: Cancel the other one. You don't need a back up. If for some reason Dollar does not have an economy when you check in, they have to upgrade you for free, and don't let them charge you either. Just stick to your guns. They, like all rental agencies, may try to talk you into upgrading when you check in, but just tell them no thanks :) Again, congrats!!! I think you have done much better than your original ressie :) Make sure to bring a copy of your confirmation when you get there. Just in case. You probably won't need it, but in case they have your rate wrong when you arrive which happens at all car rental agencies (mistakes do happen) that way they can correct it for you :) Have a great trip!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
