Day 5: MK
We were supposed to get up early today to go to the EMH for the Magical Beginnings, but DD vomited in bed from a migraine. We slept until 9:30 and were in the MK by 11am. The park seemed very busy, and I was a little worried. But when we got to Fantasyland, all the rides were either walk-ons or minimal wait times (10-20 minutes in standby lines). Mary Poppins was riding the carousel and doing pictures by it. Rode Dumbo, Indy Speedway, Buzz Light Year (me, DD, and DS), Pooh (DS and DH), then all of us Pooh again, Tea Cups, Carousel, Small World, and Peter Pan in 2 hours time. It was great! Dumbo took maybe 5-10 minutes, Peter Pan was 10, Indy 10, and the rest were all walk-ons.
Had CRT lunch at the castle at 1:30pm. Cinderella was downstairs for the photo package (which is included in the price). Since we are a family of 5, we got 2 sets of pictures. DD posed by herself (she wore her yellow Belle ball gown), and then we got one with all the kids. They announce our Royal family, and we went upstairs. Belle (in blue), Jasmine, Snow White, and Alice in Wonderland were there. We had a wonderful table on the top row, but right by the windows looking out at the Carousel. The characters had great interaction, especially Alice who really took a long time to talk to the kids. They did the special wishing ceremony and all the kids got either a magic wand or a sword. They also gave each child a wishing star. The kids had cheese, grapes, carrots/celery with dip for an appetizer. The adults get a yummy bacon salad, spicy ham and turkey, cheese, and a grilled chicken with a green pesto sauce. Yummy! For our lunch, DH and I each got the Major Domos Pie which was very good. The kids had the mini hot dogs which come in pretzel bread buns and chicken tenders. It was a ton of food. For dessert, the kids got ice cream with Mickey sprinkles and a chocolate crown. DH and I had the blueberry buckle with lemon ice cream. It was a fun lunch. It's expensive, but eating in the Castle is magical. As long as the kids love it, we will continue to go.
After lunch, it was time for the new parade. We got great seats right on the circle in front of the Castle. The parade was wonderful! Lots of good characters. We saw Rafiki, and it was the SAME Rafiki from the AK parade yesterday. He came all the way across the parade route to make sure to wave at us and let me know he was the same one. Very cool! After the parade, we went to see Mickey's Philharmagic. They had the fast pass machines covered and you literally walked right into the theater. We all LOVE this show. We will go again on Friday. Then we went to the live stage performance behind the castle next to Mickey's Philharmagic. After the show, Aurora and Prince Philip pose for photos. I was so excited. DS was Prince Philip for Halloween last year. It was a great find for us. DD wanted to take her Belle gown off before riding any more rides, so we went and changed her clothes.
We headed to Adventureland next. Walked right on Aladdin's Carpets and then went to POC. There was NO line, with a 5 minute wait posted. Captain Hook and Mr. Smee were across from POC, so we met them first. I snapped my arms like a crocodile and kept saying "tick-tock". Captain Hook ran around all scared, and the kids thought it was hilarious. Then DD, DS Davis, and I went to ride POC while DH took DS Rees back to ride Aladdin. Well, POC sound completely broke while we were on the boats. It was really weird riding through it silent. They closed it after our boat finished, and we said we'd come back later. Went and rode the Jungle Cruise and then we were going to go ride Splash Mountain. As we walked by POC, it opened back up. So the kids and I ran in and walked right on again. This time the sound was working. We loved it, and I thought the new additions with Captain Jack Sparrow were great!
Then we headed to ride Splash Mountain. Davis had loved POC so much, that I figured he was fine for SM. DD, DS, and I got to sit in the front of the boat. It was fantastic. I haven't ridden it since I was a teenager. The kids said it and POC were their favorite rides now. Yes! Finally I have someone to go with me! DH took Rees on the train around the park. When they were done, we went to Crystal Palace for our 6:30pm ADR. We waited about 5 minutes. We saw Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Food was good. My kids still adore Pooh and the gang, so this is a must do for us.
Wishes was at 8pm tonight. We were finishing dinner just before then, so they let us stand right at the entrance to CP on the steps to watch the fireworks. We had a fantastic view. It was so fun being right there in front of the Castle and comparing how it looks from the balcony of the CR. After Wishes, we stayed in the park for a while, went shopping, and took lots of pictures with it fairly empty.
Rode the monorail back to the CR and went to the beach/pool area. We had a great view of the Electrical Water Pageant as it came by the CR (10:05pm). After the EWP, we came upstairs and got the kids in bed. We are supposed to eat b'fast tomorrow at 'Ohana with Lilo and Stitch. I'm not sure if we'll keep it or cancel. We are really enjoying sleeping in and still getting plenty of time to see everything in the parks. The crowds have been wonderful. After b'fast, we are going back to MGM to see lots of the shows: Lights Motor Action, Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, etc.
I'm off to upload the pictures.
