(Update 9/14!) WDW Sept 2014 Come Hell or High Water...Adults-only trip!

This is my first time getting memory maker, and I debated a while but figured for our group there were so many of us it would be worth it. It is pretty expensive if you don't know how much you'll use it though!

Hope all your plans are coming together...it's getting so close!:cool1:

I also feel that this is our first time as just my parents and sisters in a long time and perhaps the last time that it would be nice to have all those pictures. That is assuming that to buy them separately would cost more.

Plus, like I mentioned before, Bubbles takes AWFUL ride pictures that are absolutely hilarious! I really wished that I had the pics from our last trip. So I guess I'm thinking between the rides and the character interactions that I want to do, plus any photopass photographer stuff....I'll have a lot of pictures.

You know, I think I'm going to go for it. How can I know if it's something I would like if I don't just try it?? Thanks for letting me "talk" it out, Ellen! :thumbsup2

My plans are coming together nicely. Nature Girl was down for the holiday weekend so we got together and did a little MagicBand decorating. I was really nervous and unsure at first but it got better! We aren't done yet, so I'll post pics when we finish.

I hope that YOUR plans are coming together. You have a lot going on! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

So so close! September is finally here!

I just read through your planning, sounds like me. Started planning a year ago for my trip that starts this Saturday  :jumping1:

I opted for Memory Maker, but there will be 8 of us, everyone is linked or I manage them on my account. Super excited.

I too have a ton of spreadsheets, so many, it is ridiculous. I also couldn't plan a disneybound outfit to save my life. If it happens, it was clearly by mistake.

Hi! I know you are probably not reading this because YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO DISNEY WORLD - YAYYYYY!! I'm getting really close too!

I have 13 sheets in my Excel workbook. Well, 14 but one is just a screenshot of our BOG FP+ lunch reservation. I've looked through them all to see if I really need all of them....and I do! Calculations, schedules, packing lists, must dos, FP+ times, Snacks, F&W kiosks, Rental car info, etc. I had a horrible thought yesterday when I was putting my laptop into my trunk after work that if anyone stole it all my planning stuff would be gone. :scared1: So I sent everything to myself through my Gmail account so it would be accessible from any computer anywhere. Whew!

I hope that you enjoy your trip!

So.....I bit the bullet and bought the Memory Maker. I thought that the only way to really know if it was worth it would be to just go for it. I'm excited to see!

I had a moment of panic and anger this week. It was totally uncalled for but work has been EXTREMELY stressful and I was on edge. Like I've mentioned before, I have been checking the Delta website to see how our plane ticket prices have been trending so I can perhaps better predict when to buy in the future. (Have I mentioned that I am an analytical chemist? I'm constantly judging/analyzing!) Well, when I went to the website and just brought up flights to MCO, I saw that they had changed our flight time from 7:10am to 9:00am arriving in MCO at 1pm. I know what you are thinking: big deal, right? And you are totally right, it really is no big deal except it was to me at the time. It was more over the fact that I hadn't been notified of the change and we might have missed the window to change our flight over to the other flight that was leaving at 7am.

Since DDad bought all of the tickets so that he could get points on his CC, he was the one who would have gotten the email about the change. Well, he hadn't let me know probably because it just got lost in the mess of his email. He has a separate email for soliciations, etc, so there is a lot of spam in there. I definitely transferred some of my work frustrations on to this situation. I work so hard to make sure that everything is going well (my choice, I know) and that I have all the information possible and he couldn't take the time to check his email once a day for things like this??? He also missed out on a PIN code back in Feb because he had not noticed it in the mess. And instead of taking a breath and thinking clearly before acting, I picked up the phone and immediately flew off the handle. The phone was cutting out and he couldn't really hear me - which was a good thing, sort of - but he thought that something was seriously wrong and then the whole thing snowballed from there. We eventually straightened it out and both of us calmed down. I apologized and it was fine.

Actually, it was more than fine because if I would have taken the time to get more information and actually used my confirmation number to investigate further I would have figured out that they had already moved us to the 7am departing flight. <sigh> And it doesn't really matter when we leave, I was just looking forward to getting into MCO before noon for once.

Due to my extreme reaction and the fact that work is getting to be unbearable, I have decided to take two days off of work before I leave for Disney. I will absolutely need those two days to relax and leave the work stress behind so it doesn't affect my trip. I think I need a new job. It has been a heck of a year. I normally thrive on a bit of stress and I like a challenge but this is ridiculous. :faint: Well, I definitely feel like I've earned my Disney vacation - too bad it isn't longer!

The upside to all of the flight changes is that I got to talk to Susan again! I had to update the DME information just in case it would be an issue. And that's when I decided to just go ahead and add the Memory Maker since I had her on the line. She told me that Disney is gearing up to make changes to the rules regarding the MM. Perhaps this has been mentioned elsewhere and is common knowledge but I didn't know about it - Disney is going to start requiring that each room will have to pay for a MM if you want to have them linked to your MM package.. My understanding is that as of right now, you can add anyone to your MM package and that some people are doing MM shares this way to make it more affordable. Disney must be looking to close that loophole. Though I'm sure that someone will find another way to get around the system. We'll see!

I still need to finish my MB, figure out my clothes situation, get my hair cut, finish a couple of projects, print out driving maps, and chill! The clock's ticking!!

Ugh! I hate it when flights change! It's undue stress, but it sounds like it's working out!

I can't believe I missed your previous posts about decorating magic bands and Disney bounding! I would love to so both, but I'm not artistic and my brain doesn't automatically work that way.

I do have v-neck tee I bought at Target that has a hidden owl pattern to it that I'm wearing to Universal as a Harry Potter homage.

I get work stress, this has been one of my worst stretches in a decade. Unfortunately I have to work right until we leave, literally. But I will have time before most people arrive to relax in Disney!

I am not good at Disney Bounding but my sister is. I'm trying to get her to come over to my house to look at my clothes and see what we can do.

I was really nervous about doing my MB but it turned out pretty well. The only problem was the top coat - it cracks but you really need it to protect the design.

Part of the problem is at our work, people are retiring and they aren't replacing them; just spreading the work around to the rest of the people left so everyone get just a bit more. It's ridiculous. At some point, we're all going to break! :crazy2:

We leave very soon so this will probably be my last post!

I'll try and update as best I can. There are some things still in the works and I have a lot to cram in a short number of days.

We finished our MBs! I only have pictures of mine. Sorry! You'll just have to wait until my TR to get everyone else's. The original goal was that we were going to work on these together and then I would keep them all and pack them up. Well, we started work one night but didn't finish so my family mutinied and took theirs to work on at home. :sad2: Boo! That is why I don't have pictures because I haven't even seen them!

DMom (red MB) did hers like Minnie Mouse with white dots over it. (white paint pen)
Nature Girl used sharpies to draw birds on her yellow band.
Bubbles (pink MB) used nail polish to make hers pink argyle.
I used a very thin black paint pen (we found that very thin works the best and you have the most control) to paint tiger stripes on my orange band.

This is before I put on the top coat:

I wish that I didn't have to put on the top coat but we found out that if we don't, the paint rubs off just with normal use. So, the top coat had to go on. I don't have pictures of that, I had to dab the top coat on because the paint pens smeared (even after drying completely!) if I brushed it on.

I also plan on buying some MB covers in Disney to mix it up a bit. We'll see if the top coat can survive the rubbing.

_______________
OH! I almost forgot. Life update! Nature Girl just got engaged last week!! :cheer2:

We really like her fiance. A lot. So we're all very happy. That means another wedding in the future - probably next summer. Yay!
________________

We are also working on our Halloween costumes. Well, mine's all done. I am going to be Belle again. Have to use my awesome costume!

DMom is going to go as Minnie. It's a black shirt, red with white polka dotted skirt, black leggings (optional since it is going to be so hot!), Minnie Ears, and Crocs spray painted yellow. The crocs actually make it all come together, surprisingly enough. It's like their big shoes.

Nature Girl is going as Robin Hood from the Disney cartoon movie. Currently, we are sewing on fox ears to a head band and then going to attach a hat. We have a tail made as well and it's going to attach to a belt. Nature Girl also bought a green t-shirt dress that looks pretty awesome. I can't wait to see it all put together. We are crunched for time, though!

Bubbles is going as Tinkerbell. I found some great wings at the Minnesota State Fair (weird place to find them but whatever!) and her and mom made a petal skirt out of tulle. And that is all I know about her costume. I assume that she'll be wearing some sort of green shirt on top. Not sure about her shoes.

And DDad is a party pooper and will not be attending the Halloween party.

I made cards that DMom had laminated. They are like playing cards - they have the AKL logo on the back of each of them and on the front is a Disney character. Each character represents one of us - I'm Belle, Nature Girl is Robin Hood, Bubbles is Tinkerbell, DMom is Remy, and DDad is Mr. Incredible. We're going to use them to decide things - like who sits with whom for rides and how we're going to sit together on the plane (we have three together and then two together and no one wants to sit with DMom because she gets claustrophobic and antsy on planes ), etc. We made ones for our trip in 2011 with some extended family and it worked really well.

I also ironed on a new-school Minnie and Mickey kissing onto a light blue shirt. It looks pretty good. I think most of my clothes are going to be tanktops and either shorts or a skirt. It's just too hot to do anything else.

As for a bag, I found one at the Global Mamas booth at the State Fair. It's all clothing and accessories made by women in Ghana. The bag is a smaller, cross body pouch bag. I think that and the other bag that I already have will have to do. We've decided that we don't want to be too burdened by stuff while we're there. We may get a locker to put a change or clothes for at the end of the day before dinner. Otherwise, I'm going to try and travel light. It's the ponchos that can get really heavy. Everyone has got to carry their own instead of me carrying everyone's. I deliberately haven't looked at the forecast and DMom just announced that it's supposed to rain every day while we're there. I kind of got mad and told her that we weren't supposed to look. She said that she could look if she wanted and I said that was true but she doesn't have to tell anyone and that I was deliberately not looking so that it wouldn't stress me out. I'm still a little irritated that she even said something. I've told her in the past that I don't want to know. I'm trying to very hard to go with no worries or concerns and be more relaxed and she KNOWS this and still she tells me.

I know that she wasn't thinking and I know that she wanted to share a worry of her own but after the last week that I had (I was in charge of a two day event where we had 160 poster presenters and 1600 attendees) - and she knows about this! - she should have known better. I know that I'm probably asking too much and it was just a slip of the tongue and I'm just ranting here to get it out and over with (I realize I'm being ridiculous). This is part of my problem, but I work SOOO hard to think about all the possible outcomes of my words and my actions and how it will affect others and what I need to do to do the absolute best thing possible that when someone doesn't do the same and says something that they should have thought about really gets under my skin. I am working to let some of that over analytical thinking go but it's a bit hard. My mind has a hard time stopping. I realize that not everyone is like this (Bubbles!) and I need to cut people slack. Again, I'm working on it. With mixed results, obviously. <sigh> Rant over. I feel better.

Well, sorry for that - I gotta run, I'm being picked up to go to lunch and they are almost here and I need to change into something more appropriate for public! Lounge shorts and a tank top are a little too casual - and cold! I need something warmer as it is currently in the low 50s here. Orlando is going to be a shock.

I'll see if I get time later to post a couple more things but if I don't - I'll see you on the flip side!!
