This just came in from the news, confirmed by Maine Senator Snowe's office:

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Olympia Snowe's office confirmed Friday that two of the Marines killed in a helicopter crash in Kuwait have ties to Maine.

They've been identified as Capt. Jay Aubin, the son of Thomas Aubin of Machias and Nancy Chamberlin of Winslow.

Corp. Brian Kennedy, the son of Melissa Derbyshire of Port Clyde. They were among the four and eight British soldiers killed when their helicopter crashed in Kuwait.

I am in tears here in my office......please pray for Jay's and Brian's families

I've been praying for these families since I heard the first report at 2:30 this morning. :(

Patty, I can't imagine what you have been going through since hearing that Marines were involved.

The families will be lifted in prayers.

Patty, my heart goes out to you. May God continue to bless your son and the others who are fighting.

some one was misinformed....Aubin's first name was Thomas

:(
Prayers to the families.

I am looking for confirmation on the names now, Goof. They are reporting that the father's name is Thomas, son is Jay.

when i heard the report this morning about the marine, my first thought went to you Patty...

prayers to you and your family...and especially to your marine...

Patty, Last night I was thinking about you an awful lot. I woke up thinking about your son when I turned on the Tv for about a half an hour (about 2am). Keeping you in my prayers.

Melanie

They just had Capt. Jay Aubin's mother talking via telephone to Tom Brokaw on TV. What a brave woman to even agree to talk with them, I couldn't have done it.

she talked and these men on the tv .....were sobbing....to prove they are human too.....they are reporting what is going on and they are brought to tears by this womans feelings and her testimony that the tv coverage is good in one way and horrible to the families that watch and wonder ...is this my child that is going down ........it brought tears to my eyes too......incredible ....incredible interview

I hadn't heard about that, thanks for posting, SeaShelly. It's got to be a terrible time for the families. I pray that they will be comforted by knowing that their sons died for a noble cause. I hope this war is over soon!!

I hope you are right camper. Perhaps soon they will begin to replace some of their grief with even more pride for their sons than they already had. I can't begin to imagine what they must be going through.

Continuing with my prayers.........
