Update 2/22 New Blog: Grand "Re-Branding": ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

Disney puts the finishing touches on a new sign for the entrance to the Wide World of Sports Complex at the corner of Victory Way and Osceola Parkway. Disney is "re-branding" the facility to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in a push to make the venue the premier destination for amateur and youth sports in the country. A red-carpeted opening ceremony complete with professional athletes and ESPN personalities is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2010 as part of Disney's annual sports-themed fan-fest, ESPN: The Weekend. I'm going to be on hand to cover all of the events for the DIS Unplugged during the opening weekend. I may even run the 5K while I'm there.

The only information I have is it will be 5:00pm on Thursday 2/25 at the WWoS. I know the Harlem Globetrotters game is at 7:00pm, and soccer is at 6:00pm. So I'm guessing it will be at the entrance to WWoS (where the globe thingy is) prior to the sporting events.

I think it makes perfect sense. Disney owns ESPN, ESPN is widely recognized as a sports brand. Makes sense.
