We are going to be staying at OKW for our upcoming trip in 1/26/19-2/2/19. We are staying in a studio with our 3 kids (12, 4, and 14 months). We have only ever stayed at VWL. Am I going to be disappointed staying at OKW? We really wanted to try something different this time. Also when we check in are we able to request rooms close to bus stops due to small kids? Thanks for any help!

when you say we, is that 5 in a studio at OKW? Someone will need to sleep on the floor, no pull down bed there. On the DVC booking page, a limit of 4 in an OKW studio.

The 14 month old does not count in the occupancy.

Sorry about that, when I read your post I saw a 12, 4 and 14 thought all were ages, didn't see the months on the 2nd line.
OKW is our 1st home resort, you should have a wonderful trip.

I would recommend making a request to be close to the bus stop in advance so you get a better chance of getting your request.

You'll need to haul strollers up the stairs if you aren't on the first floor. Most buildings do not have elevators. Actually, with five bus stops, none of the buildings are far from a bus stop or pool. But you probably won't be worried about a pool in January.

OKW is a really nice resort, but I have like every resort that I have stayed at. I have stayed at BLT, AKV, OKW, SSR, HHI and VB.
Agree, with previous post, you may want to request a ground floor unit with little ones.

We enjoyed the pool, Olivia’s , the CS and we love th convenience to Disney Springs.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom, the units are huge. And as someone mentioned the studio are very large. OKW is the original DVC.

The grounds are very pretty. We rented a surrey bike one day and had a blast.

Good luck.

Was anything other than OKW available? They are under renovation right now. It is a pretty resort. Very low key. Also very big and only certain building have elevators. I can come up with the right words here....I would just say it is not as "striking " as VWL. It is a great point value. We have only stayed here once in our 10 years as DVC owners. I don not dislike it , but I like lots of other places much more. Still ...better to be at OKW than not to be at WDW :)

I would set up a the 2 wait list options...other point friendly rooms are Boardwalk standard, AK standard, SSR standard :)

With an OKW studio, you'll have two queen beds (no sleeper sofa). That alone is a big perk when you have kids you want to put to sleep at night. The renovation doesn't bother anyone really. They block of a few buildings with fences and do just those. So you don't hear a bunch of noise, especially during nap time for little ones. We have our 24th stay at OKW coming up in December 2018 in 21 years of ownership. It's always been our favorite.

I love OKW; it is my home resort. But I have friends who stayed there once, and were not happy dragging a stroller up the steps.
On the other hand, there can be a shorter walk to a bus stop than at WL, since there is no hallway and lobby to walk through.
