I wouldn't change the way they made the movie, but I know it will be a loooong time before I watch it again. We watched it last night and I was sobbing through the first 20 minutes of the movie, then again in the middle and then again at the end (basically any part that discussed Carl and Ellie), and for another half hour afterwards! I was sobbing, 'how can they put this in a children's movieeeeeee!!!!' LOL

Admittedly, we have a lot going on right now in our lives that made it particularly heartwrenching and it really, really made me emotional last night. I did not know that particular aspect of the movie going in, just the main plot, basically what you see in the commercials. My MIL said to me on Friday night that she watched it with my nephew earlier in the week and that it was 'sad'. I had no idea to what extent!!!!

Watching my first DVD movie on my new Flat screen- for the fourth run through since last night- Wall E!

What a great movie!

And... there is one part where I ran it in slow motion to pick up all the details and there is so much there (starting at about 40 minutes in in particular, but other parts too) that in real time just goes by too quick to note! What masters these guys are who made this!

One thing I noted, a subtle little thing they used to create atmosphere in the futuristic life aboard the space ship AXIOM: words are used very minimally, mostly pictures, and occasionally one or two simple words, like Fun, Win, or on the front of a shop, Beautiful. Very subtle stuff! Reading has gone the way of the dinosaur- even the Captain is baffled by the written word when forced by unique circumstances to consult an procedure manual. Everyone, everything is taken care of- no need to read...

Even the end credits are so fabulous! I am thinking of ripping that by itself and posting it as a music vid on Youtube!

One of the reasons I enjoy Pixar movies so much is because they are filled with such brilliant details. You can watch a Pixar movie multiple times and get something new out of the movie each time.

Have you seen the book Pixarpedia? It highlights all of the Pixar movies and gives a lot of backgroud details about each movie. I like looking for the Hidden Mickeys in each movie!

The Pixar Shorts show is on TV tonight, but I won't be home for most of the evening. I hope to catch at least part of the show.

If you're interested in seeing reviews for Pixarpedia, look up the book on Amazon. Our library has the book which is how I initally found it. Looking for Hidden Mickeys is fun while watching a movie!

The beginning of the movie was the best part. It helped explain why he was doing what he was doing. How strong his love was for ellie and how he would do anything for her. Loved Up

I TOTALLY disagree.

The sequence of Carl's backstory was essential to understand why he does what he does during the rest of the movie. Why he uses balloons to make his "escape". Why he goes to Paradise Falls and why he searches for Charles Muntz. Why he reacts to Russell the way he does. And why Ellie's book means so much to him.


And, for what it is worth, the 2 minutes or so of the completely dialogue-free scenes from Carl and Ellie's marriage moved me to a sobbing mess, and had more emotional impact than most anything I've seen lately.

I cried during that too.

I actually wasn't sure if I would like UP. Usually we would go to the movies to see it but we didn't. I ended up only buying it becasue it was on sale and I thought I grabbed the blu ray but didn't. BUT I thought it was a really good movie. Nemo and Toy Story are still my top but I may like Up better then Cars and I do like Cars.

Finally watched it and did not care for it. It had cute parts but I found myself wanting to rewrite the script.

I also loved Nemo and liked Cars. I fell asleep watching Wall-E and think that is a terrible movie.

We sure do - my tag line from that movie is "But it's a TALKING DOG!!!"
