Where the heck do they come up with these type of punishments? Lets make the people who incite these things do them. I would be contacting an atty as well.
What about the threat of it being for 5 more days if he told his parents? With that threat they knew his parents would not approve.

Sshhh on the fact that this could be a zombie thread. At least we got rid of the promoted story ads down at the bottom. I'd rather put up with these threads instead!! :teeth:

Yes. This has certainly been a "be careful what you wish for" cautionary tale.......

Wow. Twenty-seven people here think it's ok to call kids names and make them stare at the sun?

I voted yesterday, or the other day without reading the linked article so my vote was yes because I have no problem with recess detention (missing recess). I changed my vote but maybe the other people who did the same never bothered too.

I agree that this is probably the issue. Many don't feel recess detention is a problem. They had this when I was in elementary school. Then it was that we had to stand against the wall or if there was a teacher that was planning to just do work in their room sometimes cleaning the room.

I have even heard of ones where they have the student walk or run laps around the playground now so that they even get exercise, they just don't get to do something fun.

The artile was about something else entirely then just a recess detention.

At both of my schools (the one in Mexico and the one here) if you had recess detention, sometimes you were made to pick up trash around the playground or as other mentioned, clean the classroom. I think those types of punishment are reasonable to use. What the principal/teachers from the article chose to do are just plain cruel.

Ha, I didn't even notice! I totally agree!

Ok - for sure I will NEVER tell that this is a Zombie Thread! Nope - no one will hear it from me!

Never!!!

But as zombie threads go, this isn't horribly old nor is it no longer relevant. So not too bad.

and like many others, I prefer zombie threads to those other things. A lot of them were really creepy.
